(How to Move on After a Breakup) 7 Ways to Get Over Your Ex

How to move on after a breakup and get over an ex?  This isn't going to be easy.  You've been hurt, you feel resentment and anger, but mostly you feel sad because you've lost the one you love.

But if you really want to know how to move on after a breakup, then you need to get over such emotions.  You need to be strong enough to tell yourself it's time to move on.  Not sure how?  Don't worry, because here are 7 ways that will help you get over your ex so you can move on.

Get rid of your ex's stuff.  Having their stuff in your home will only remind them of you.  Don't tell yourself that they might come back.  You need to focus on yourself and you can't do that if you're holding on to something that belongs to your ex.

Get out and get a life.  Your life didn't end because your ex is gone.  You've been living your life way before you met your ex and you will continue to live it even if they're no longer a part of your life.  What you need are your friends to comfort you and help you get your act together.  Staying indoors all the time will not really help you move on.

Try not to fall in a rebound relationship.  People who broke up would usually date the first person they meet and it almost never works because there's really no attraction or chemistry in that kind of relationship.  You're just looking for companionship or a replacement for your ex.  You will end up being disappointed because you will be making comparisons and recollections.

If you're the one who did the dumping, then be sure to get closure.  Make sure that you and your ex are on the same page when you breakup.  Make it clear that this is a breakup and not a break which means that the two of you will be seeing other people from now on.

Don't put your ex on a pedestal and think that they are perfect.  You will never get over your ex and move on if you continue to think such thoughts.  You will compare every person you meet with your ex and feel like they just don't measure up.

Don't contact your ex for a while.  In fact, delete them from your Facebook because it's likely you'll be freaked out when you see that they're seeing someone else.  If you're not ready to communicate with your ex, then don't force yourself.  Save yourself the heartache and just let things be for now.

Embrace your single status.  Now that you're single again, you can do whatever you want.  You don't have to tell someone where you're going and you don't have to explain yourself all the time.  Being single isn't a curse and it will help you rediscover yourself.  You can focus on regaining your self-esteem and making some improvements.

When it comes to how to move on after a breakup, remember that you need to have emotional strength.  It's natural to feel angry and hurt.  Cry for a while if you have to but get back on your feet afterwards.  If you want to get over your ex, then you need to let go of your old relationship
