Tonto Dikeh Explains Why She Did Not Perform At Rhythm Unplugged

For the second consecutive time, fans of Tonto Dikeh's music were left disappointed, after the Nollywood star failed to show up for her performance at the Rhythm Unplugged.

The previous time, when she was billed to perform at the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON), she kept guests and organisers waiting. Only to deny later that she was never scheduled to perform there.

However, this time around, the Poko Queen already told her fans to watch out, as she will be part of the numerous artistes that will rock the stage that evening.

After she failed to show up again, she took to Twitter to apologise, citing ill-health as the reason for her no-show.

"Formal Apology 2 @flytimeevents n Ya'll 4Failin 2showup 4 ma 1zt performance due 2health reazonz**Promize a better show **Much luv," she wrote.

A lot of industry observers. are already insinuating that Miss Dikeh is developing cold feet over her own songs.

D’Banj Apologises To His Fans For Koko Concert “Walk of Life”

D'Banj has apologized to his fans for the "treking" at the Koko Concert. He also thanked them for coming out to show support. Read the tweets.......

Tonto Dikeh Is Nollywood’s Most Controversial Actress of the Year

Whether you believe it or you do, Tonto Dikeh is the most controversial actress who rocked Nollywood in the outgoing year.

A product of Next Movie Star, Tonto Dikeh since she hit the limelight few years ago has never seized to be at the centre of controversy. The outgoing year is no different.

Her controversial lifestyle became more glaring this year judging from most of her unbecoming exploits. After the noise generated by her new tattoo last year, Tonto continued with her 'wild lifestyle',stepping on people's toes and damning her critics. Her newly released singles, Hi and Itz Ova, did not help matters even though the singles became two of the most listened and downloaded tracks, with over 500,000 views.

Dikeh, who joined the bandwagon of other actors who succumbed to the moonlighting itch to delve into music, was lampooned and criticised by her fans for the uninspiring singles. Yet, she was not deterred. While she was battling to find her feet in the music circle, her foes romantically linked her to the Kukere crooner, Iyanya who squealers said was seeing Ghanaian leggy actress, Yvonne Nelson. For Iyanya and Tonto Dikeh it was all about who has left who for who.

However, this whole saga began when Yvonne Nelson took to the internet to vent her feelings after Iyanya dumped her for Tonto Dikeh. The drama continued unabated until Tonto Dikeh replied Yvonne's tweet and the two actresses took their rivalry to Blackberry messenger (BBM) where they threw 'nasty' insults at each other.

Covenant University Expels 200 Students for refusing to attend Church service

Students beg, Parents react. School declines comment
I'm not aware — Prof Okojie, NUC boss

About 200 students may have been expelled by the authorities of Covenant University, Cannanland, Ota, Ogun State, recently for what was described as "disregard of paramount core values."

Frustrated and angered by the development, some of the affected students who gave account of what happened battled emotions while narrating their situations to Saturday Vanguard recently. They however pleaded with the school authorities to tamper justice with mercy in order to save their future.

Saturday Vanguard investigation revealed that out of the figure, about 126 were expelled for not attending the 'departure service', meant to sign off from the school after the end of the Semester and Matriculation of students on November 30. Five other students were thrown out for smoking while unconfirmed source said additional 60 got the same fate for violating other rules bordering on the University's core values. A few others were given four weeks suspension for failure to sign the head count that was conducted a couple of weeks earlier.

A letter of expulsion signed by the Registrar, Ntia Ubong, a copy which was made available to Saturday Vanguard stated that the affected students contravened Chapter 1, section 30, page 40 of the 2010-2014 Student Handbook.

We gathered that the massive expulsion was predicated on the anger of the Chancellor, Bishop David Oyedepo who was said to have been infuriated after seeing students loitering around when they were supposed to be at the Chapel for the Departure Service.

He was said to have personally chased students to the Chapel and ordered for a search into all the halls and colleges to fish out those who did not attend the service.

Several attempts to get the school authorities comment on the issue proved abortive. The Instituion's Corporate Affairs Head, Mr Igban Emmaunel also refused to comment as calls pulled through to him were unanswered and text messages not replied.

How it happened
A few of the affected students gave account of what happened to Saturday Vanguard at different points. The similar accounts go thus: "On November 30, the last day of the semester, preceding our December break, there was also a Matriculation for the 100 level students; in fact some students had their last semester exams on that day, some of them finished around 3:00pm while the matriculation started around 8am. Some students retired to their rooms to relax while some engaged in some other activities jubilating the end of the semester.

"Some also got drinks from the matriculating students. Even as these were going on, some students who finished around 3pm retired to their halls. By 5pm, they announced that we should get prepared for the 'Departure service' which was to start by 8pm. Some students were already seeing their parents off while some of us were just trying to relax to get off the stress of the exams.

"Most of us hadn't gotten through the tiredness of the sleepless nights of the exams; so, some us stayed back in our rooms. The departure service is usually a day before we go home and it is usually presided over by the Chancellor. Before the commencement of the service, they used to lock up the main doors of the halls so as to prevent cases of theft. I was not bothered since there were a lot of us in the hall. Some minutes past 8pm, they switched off the light and all of us in the hall went into our rooms. Because of the darkness and the cold, I slept off immediately."

He continued: "The persistent knocks on the door woke me up and I realised that they had come to search for people who had not come to service. Before I realised what was going on, I found myself with other students numbering about 30. They took down our names and counted us to make sure that no one was omitted. They said the Chancellor was at the service and we refused to come. I heard them talking about other halls and they asked us to wait. I didn't take it seriously because I never believed in my widest imagination that we would be expelled. We were later asked to go to our various halls.

"Some of those who went into hiding were lucky as they were not found. Shortly, those who went for the service returned and told us there was poor attendance at the Chapel and how students were diving in through the windows, scampering for seats. In fact, one narrated to us how the Chancellor jumped through the window to vent his anger on some students who had jumped in," he stated.

Another expelled student also gave similar account of the incident. "I couldn't go to the service because, I was not feeling well which was as a result of the stress of the exams we had just finished. After a while, I managed to go but I heard that they started driving people back around 7:30pm while the service was to start around 8pm. I was surprised because the rule was that you've got to be seated 15minutes to the service. Again, it was never made compulsory, but they tried to get students out of the halls to prevent cases of theft. So, because I was not feeling well, I went back to my room because I needed to rest for a while.

"I thought it was a joke when they said we are in for expulsion because we failed to come for departure service. I have never done anything contrary to the school laws. I have never faced any panel before and neither did I have any unpleasant case in my file. I never thought it was real until letters were handed to me the following morning."

Giving account of how letters were handed out to them, the visibly troubled student said: "By 6am, they announced the names of those who were caught in halls and colleges. Usually after the departure service, one can sign out from there and go but because it ended late and no one could travel, students had to wait till the following morning. But the hall officer told those of us whose names were written down that if we leave, we should be considered gone from the university forever. That gave us an insight into what was likely to come as punishment. By 7:45am, we were called once again to go downstairs for our letters. Those who collected theirs before mine were crying and I wondered what the punishment could be until I read the letter stating I was expelled from the university."

D’banj,Others Flop At Koko Concert 2012

Most hypes don't live up to their expectation, no one knows why, it just doesn't happen.

Even the most optimistic of people who attended the Koko Concert at the 'Eko Atlantic City' on December 27, 2012 left the vnue fuming or physically too tired to react to the poor turnout of events that took place at the new Eko Atlantic City, off Amadu Bello, Victoria Island.

The first of many problems was the distance from the Eko Atlantic entrance to the venue of the show – all of 20KM. While cars were getting stuck in the sandy ground and traffic was building up, eager fans decided to walk the distance with the hope that their 'endurance trek' would be compensated with a good show.

For starters, D'banj and DKM Media deserve commendation for looking outside the overused and unnecessarily exorbitant Eko Hotel and Suites and looking for a new location; joining the likes of R28 & EME and Sound Sultan who have staged successful shows at Oceanview and Harbour Point respectively, as many industry players work to break Eko's monopoly.

Koko Concert, which was meant to commence at 7PM kicked off at 10:24PM with comedians Baskethmouth and Bovi doing a tremendous job by keeping the crowd hyped up for the upcoming performances.

There were a few opening performances from Saeon, Flowssickk, DRB Lasgisdi, Ajebutter 22, Orezi, Omo Akin, Seyi Shay, Dpzzle , Burna Boy, Shank, Dammy Krane, Lynxxx and Ice Prince who skipped out on the live band, embracing CD performance.

At 12:24, the show host Idris Elba was introduced on stage. The UK actor was however not in is element or rather seemed not to connect with the crowd. It remained that way for the entire show.

The hero of the day however was UK rapper Tinie Tempah. The 24-year-old act with Nigerian roots was a show stopper; it might have taken a while before he came up on stage due to his crew fixing their equipment but when he commenced his performance, he commanded the stage gracefully.

Always urging the crowd to sing along with him as he performed hits like 'Pass out' and 'Till I'm gone'; they surprised him by reciting (word for word) the lyrics of some of his songs. 'I love you Lagos, thank you for supporting me', Tinie who was a late addition to the concert emotionally blurted.

The buzz was however dampened with the next performance from G.O.O.D Music artiste Pusha T who failed to coordinate or control the crowd with his performance. The decision of the organizers to bring a C-list Hip-Hop act to a concert headlined by a Pop act seemed wrong from the very start. The former Clipse member's performance only proved so as he received little or no cheer-support from the crowd.

Next up was Big Sean who managed to salvage the situation performing his popular songs 'My last', 'Dance (A$$)', 'Mercy', occasionally putting his hands in his briefs. The crowd's response was way better as the young rapper energetically jumped aroundon stage, thrilling fans. He finally made an introduction for D'banj.

The final moment then arrived; D'banj making one of the most majestic intros, getting on stage with a golden robe adorned with a traditional crown. D'banj however made matters worse, dragging his performance with unnecessary banter which only irritated most of the already-tired audience. He was however brave enough to use the live band, the first performance of the night to do so, performing songs like 'Olorun maje', 'Suddenly', 'Oyato' and more

Between performances and romancing the VVIP crowd, D'banj in batches brought on Naeto C, Kay Switch, Ikechukwu, J-Sol and Davido with all the features being lacklustre. 40 minutes into D'banj's performance, there began a mass exodus from the venue, leaving a quarter of the original crowd ending the show with D'banj as he finished up with his 'Oliver Twist' monster hit.

Wizkid and 2face who had been earlier announced to attend and perform at the concert were missing, while many guests, including Seyi Shodimu, Darey, and Banky W reportedly turned back, after trying for hours, to get to the venue.

During the show, popular OAP Maste of Nigeria Info 99.3 commented on Instagram 'At the Koko Concert. I swear getting a regular ticket is far better than VIP and VVIP. #KokoConcert #2012'.

Apart from the poor performances, the big fail for the Koko Concert was the logistics disaster, with traffic and access control, seating, in-venue shuttle topping the list. The VVIP area was so over-burdened, many guests who had paid for tables were seeing loitering and complaining.

It didn't help that apart from the thousands who witnessed the mishaps live, a live internet broadcast by GTbank's Ndani TV helped showed the shame to millions all over the world, with many giving real time negative feedback on Twitter and Facebook. D'banj trended for hours, with many Koko Concert related hashtags also trending locally on Twitter.

It is still a hot topic on Twitter with hashtags like #KokoConcert, #KokoConcertWalkofLife, #KokoConcertSurvivors becoming trends for the day. Fans are still talking about the show, describing their best performances and how they made it out of the venue.

No word yet from D'banj and his minders.

For many who saw the show, getting back to their cars or to the main road (Ahmadu Bello) became a herculean task; as disappointed fans bowed their heads and slugged their way in the heaps of beach sand as they dragged their tired bodies back home, some crying, others cursing, with another handful trying to push their stuck vehicles out of the sand.

For an artiste who had a fantastic run this year, building an international profile and doing Nigeria proud, it was a big shame for D'banj to end 2012 in utter ridicule, and it remains uncertain what his team will do to manage the mess generated by the events of last night.

Popular faces at the concert include Nigerian footballers  Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha, Obafemi Martins, as well as DJ Caise, Tee A, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Eku Edewor, Vixen, 9ice, Ayo Animashaun, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, and many others

Denrele Edun - “The worst day of my life! Dec 27th,Koko concert”

And a lot of people who went for the Koko Concert are so much regretting ever going for the show as they all complained via twitter that they trekked their lives out.

One of those people who complained was our crazy TV host, Denrele Edun who was also present at the show.

The crazy dude had people worry about him as he was over my Timeline on twitter lamenting how his night was. He tweeted 'The worst day of my life! Dec 27th, Koko Concert. Despite the negativity, I managed to hold my head up and stay positive! Home now…Never again'.

Before he tweeted that he also made it known that he has completely deleted 27th of December from his memory.

From his tweets, it was obvious that he was not happy, as he told one of his fans that he is now home, crying…LOL

But really, I can imagine him with those big shoes of his trekking. Then just imagine ladies with their high heels trekking too,we are sure most of them would have trekked on bare feet.

One other crazy thing we heard was that they stood throughout the show, even those people that paid for VIP tickets…W–hhhhh—aaaaaa—-tttttt!!! This is not meant to be called KOKO CONCERT but KOKO CRUSADE.

Out of those people who attended, the only persons who appreciated the show and said it was a success was DEEVEE, one of D'banj's producers.

Really, what a night for them…

Janet Jackson Engaged To Doha Billionaire

You must have heard about Janet Jackson's billionaire boyfriend. Now, Jackson may be gearing up for a monumental 2013 with news surfacing that the hit singer is engaged to her long-time boyfriend and Middle Eastern brand moghul Wissam Al Mana.

According to reports, her wealthy boyfriend popped the question several months ago and presented her with a "huge expensive ring." Insiders claim the lavish ring is tempting the singer to keep it locked up at all times.

Jackson, 46, began dating the much younger billionaire businessman in 2010 and the pair is reportedly planning a spring wedding in Qatar.

"He is flying in all of Janet's friends and family on private jets," a source told US Weekly.

"He wants to get a top chef to create a custom menu," the insider continued before adding the ceremony "will cost millions." Other reports claim that her wealthy beau is planning a big fat Qatari wedding with Rolex watches as return gifts for guests.

Jackson is not new to matrimony; this will be her third marriage. She was earlier married to singer James DeBarge and Rene Elizondo, Jr. She split from hip-hop producer Jermaine Dupri in 2009 after several years of dating.

Now we understand why Janet's dressing and lifestyle has totally changed. We hope pit's for the best, and not just another celebrity marriage.

Calabar Carnival Cost N1.5 billion – Government

The Cross River Government spent over N1.5 billion on the going carnival in Calabar, the Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Commission, Mr Gabe Onah, said on Thursday.

Onah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar that the money was spent on facilities and logistics for the event.

The chairman said the amount went up because participation of local and foreign visitors had risen, compared to previous years.

He said that facilities provided at the carnival include pavilions for exhibitors, costumes and mobile toilets.

"There is adequate security in the state to erode the negative impression the foreigners have over the insecurity challenges in the country," he said.

Onah said that part of the money was given to about 30,000 indigenes at the carnival, foreign artists and some other participants.

Many Brazilian dancers were imported for the carnival. The Brazilian imports were heavily photographed wearing two-piece bikinis.

He expressed the commission's appreciation to core sponsors of the carnival for making the occasion a success.

"The entire indigenes are so grateful to our core sponsors and grateful for being part of promoting their lives and culture," he said.

He thanked Gov. Liyel Imoke for his moral support toward making the carnival successful.

Onah urged government to support the organisers to ensure continuity. The carnival ends on Dec. 31.

Top Earning Entertainers Of 2012

Despite breaking up with former label partner and cash cow D'banj, Don Jazzy raked in millions in 2012…

They're making money as if it's going out of fashion; controlling assets that are making some oil tycoons want to consider a career switch. They're living the real celeb life – hopping from private jets to limited edition cars and SUVs.

With minimum earnings about N6.5M per month, and highest incomes nearing N50m per month in some cases, these fab few are raking in the big bucks, and making hundreds of their colleagues green with envy…

Here's the definitive list of those who made the biggest dough in 2012.

GENEVIEVE NNAJI: The Nollywood actress is ahead of her peers, benefiting from endless endorsements (Loya, MUD, Range Rover etc) and reaping dividends from private businesses she's keeping off public glare. Paid a mind-boggling figure to act in the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's 'Half of a Yellow sun', Ms Nnaji rarely takes up movie roles these days. When she does, it must be worth it.

D'BANJ: Gone are the days when he made N10m in a week. These days, the superstar entertainer is making more business deals than hits, and the figures are amazing, from CRBTs to distribution, content syndication, and several non-music projects. Paid between N5 and N15 for engagements, and enjoying royalty returns from here, the UK and US, the former Mo'hits front man could soon be moving from the millionaires to the billionaires' club.

DAVIDO: The young son of billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke is making daddy proud earning his own money at the young age of 20. Davido who started out as a rookie less than two years ago now charges four to five million Naira to perform at gigs and here's the good part, he gets to perform at least three gigs in a week. Could be up to five, in seasons such as this. 2012 incomes include the N30m deal with MTN…

WIZKID: The EME pop star this year made big bucks from his endorsement deal with carbonated soft drink Pepsi. Same for his deal with Star, for the all-star song. And all through the year, he stood as one of the highest paid acts, charging between N4m and N6.5m for performances here, and usually more, for gigs in Dubai, England and elsewhere…

OMOTOLA JALADE-EKEINDE: Omosexy cashed out with her reality show 'The Real Me' for which she reportedly got paid a huge sum. She also featured in two big budget movies 'Amina' and 'Last Flight to Abuja'.

PSQUARE: The twins probably made the most money this year jetting round Africa headlining sold out shows attended by thousands. Peter and Paul Okoye, whose billable hours attract close to double figures in the millions, also signed a distribution deal with Universal Music. With sold out gigs here and abroad, the brothers have built a wild following that makes sure promoters keep asking for them. Easily one of the highest paid Nigerian acts.

BASKETMOUTH: Bright Okpocha's transition from mere stand-up comic to events compere and TV host has the big bucks rolling in for him. His Globacom endorsement remains intact, and he's delved heavily into show promotions here and abroad. There's also the successful EmBARssy Lounge on Lagos mainland.

ALI BABA: When the revered comedian isn't cracking people up on Twitter, he's making big bucks consulting or compering events for multinationals, government or high net worth individuals.

IYANYA: Being his most promising year so far, Iyanya made quite a fortune off his 'Kukere' single. Performance fees doubled, tripled then doubled again, causing him to swim in millions. Just this year, he relocated to an expensive apartment in Lekki and bought for himself a Range Rover HSE. Next year should even be better.

2FACE IDIBIA: If he didn't make the list, wouldn't you be scared? 2face started the year, releasing his fifth solo album and then embarked on a sponsored US tour. Charging as much as $60,000 per show, Mr. Idibia was busy all year, headlining gigs all over. Investment in real estate and hospitality (including Club Rumours, in Ikeja, Lagos) also paid off.

FUNKE AKINDELE: The actress-producer is still enjoying the success of 'The Return of Jenifa' from which she reportedly made over N30m. She has also been made the ambassador of Nigerian job website Jobberman, a deal worth millions of Naira. That's in addition to the endorsement deal with Telecoms Company GLO and the Lagos Inland Revenue Service.

DON JAZZY: The MAVIN Records boss signed a deal with Samsung Africa and broke bank with the Loya Milk deal. With his eyes firmly on the prize, the gifted producer moved beyond the Mo'Hits beef to focus on pushing and monetizing MAVIN content, while expanding into fresh business areas. He's penned a deal to produce the theme song for the Africa Cup of Nations holding in 2013… And the recently launched Pop Club is a year-end addition that'll sure bear fruits…

Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ms. Jaie, Toke Makinwa Others Share Their Most Memorable Christmas Celebrations

Here's what some Nigerian celebrities and media personalities have to say about their most memorable Christmas!

Adaora Mbelu, Producer: "December 2010. In the Spirit of Christmas, I decided to do something different – get a few friends together, leave our worries and work stress at the door, and enjoy an evening of fun, laughter, and honest friendship. The summary was something like this:

1. If you intend to spend your entire Christmas Eve on BB Messenger, please don't bother showing up. We will have a Blackberry Radar up to measure the amount of BB usage from each person's phone.

2. We'll sign release forms, permitting usage of your image. The camera will be snapping away.

3. Please bring something. It can be anything really. If your contribution is 10 Packets of Chupa Chups, Ribena, Plantain Chips, ANYTHING, that's fine.

4. 10 -15 people maximum (If you bring a friend, be prepared to feed them o! – so, carry extra food in your pocket, or they'll sit down and watch us eat)

5. Drinks: Leave your liver at home, there's no 911 Ambulance service in this country o!

6. We'll try to keep the games as Civil and PG (Parental Guidance) rated as possible. Keyword: try.

7. We'll have a freestyle session, and everyone has to do something creative, so start practicing now (sing, Rap, Dance, Recite Poetry, Act). If you're singing, feel free to bring your instrumental CD along.

8. A sleep over pass will be granted to interested individuals. However, Saturday morning is church o! So all sleep-over people have to vacate at 8.30 am or go to church with me. Your choice!"

Tomi Odunsi, Actress: "Oh dear. I have had a lot of Christmases I cannot forget in a hurry but I think the ones I miss the most are from when I was very young. I remember wearing new clothes even down to my panties. I looked forward to Christmas because that's the day my mum surprised us with beautiful things, clothes and all sorts of gifts. We would run around in our new clothes and almost sleep in them. Sometimes I wish I could re-live those moments. Now I imagine a fun Christmas in a destination location but Christmas as a kid was the absolute best."

Toni Tones, Fashion photographer/Editor: "I look forward to Christmas every year. It's a very special holiday. The way it smells, the gifts, (especially the gifts) and you can literally feel care and love in the air. Each year I have a different sort of experience that makes each Christmas mighty special, whether I'm out of the country or somewhere in my village. Some years however are more dramatic than the others, some are quite mellow too but I think my most memorable ones are the ones I spent chilled at home with family. Not doing anything really other than just being in the same space, laughing, and living, talking, loving and basically enjoying the moment. And I think that's what Christmas is about."

Ezinne Chinkata, Fashion editor/Stylist: "Generally, Christmas holidays are filled with boisterous laughter, family, parties and festive mayhem! Absolutely amazing. It was what I had always understood Christmas to be, and it was always celebrated in my village, Umuakwu Nsulu in Abia State. Like every young impressionable girl, I took the "getaway village Christmas" for granted. My most memorable Christmas would be the Christmas I rebelled and decided I would rather spend the Christmas in Lagos. I felt Christmas in Lagos would be way Cooler and more exciting. Christmas day dawned quiet and solemn. I was miserable. I missed the village terribly, I missed the village church, I missed the bleating goats, the relatives, the un-tarred roads! I yearned for the village so badly! Christmas in Lagos felt stark and without the eastern flavour I had gotten accustomed to. Now I hardly spend Christmas in the East and it is still a very joyous occasion. However that distant Christmas of years ago still haunts me, and I shake my head at my naiveté at the time. Most memorable one!"

Ego Ogbaro, Musician: "It has to be the Christmas of 1990, you know, when harmattan was harmattan. You could feel Christmas in the air, the carols, the knock-out (fireworks), you know, the whole works. And we went to Ijebu, my mum's village for the holiday. We were all there: my aunts, my cousins, it was a full house. My grandmother (may her sweet gentle soul rest in peace) was a very nice woman. She was like the area nanny, people came to the house and dropped their kids and she would take care of them without cost. She was quite loved by everybody. Even during the Muslim holidays, people sent meat and food to her house and it was the same for Christmas.

"That Christmas, we woke up early in the morning excited to wear our new clothes and we all looked really nice. We got to meet our cousins and we were all sort of in the same age group so nobody felt left out. There was a lot of food coming from everywhere, Lord there were a lot of meals on the table. We'd eat and gist. There was a lot of love in the air.

"Normally my granddad is strict but that year, he allowed us go out, have fun. It was one of my best Christmases really, because I was with my family, there was a lot of food (laughs), I can't say that enough. And at the end of the day, we all gathered round and told stories. It was fun fun fun!"

Toju Foyeh, Designer: "This brings back memories from my childhood of long dinners with the whole family in Ibadan with my great-grandmother who was a fashion designer and my grandmother.

"We were all kids then and my parents would bundle my brothers and I into the car after carefully packing our gear up for us. We would excitedly embark on our road trip with us kids in the back seat playing games and counting landmarks, each of us hoping to be the first to see the black ornate gate that housed their home.

"Those long hours spent there with our great grandparents regaling us with stories of her childhood, fussing after us and feeding us fat with the customary rice and chicken Christmas meal that Nigerian homes back then had come to associate Christmas meals with were absolutely unforgettable, we were young carefree and blissfully happy, the trip back to Lagos was usually longer with us fast asleep and smothered in love and dreaming already of the next Christmas back in grandmas arms again."

Toke Makinwa, TV/Radio host: "I have been pondering over this in my mind since I was asked to share my fondest Christmas memory. You see, Christmas is like my second Birthday. I absolutely love the season and what it represents; family, friends, food, drinks, partying and the general mood that everyone gets into without forgetting the magic that Christmas signifies.

"My 2009 Christmas was spent away from home and that was different. I have a very large family and making our Christmas plans can be likened to a room full of politicians trying to make a decision. Phew! A lot of indecisive people. My Father also added to the problem at hand. Our family home in Idanre/Ondo state had been completed for a while and he must have been having a laugh to even imagine that he could bundle all of us home. When I heard this, I was mortified. He didn't even have any reason for this enormous decision, he just felt that we leave the parents to making the trip home and we have all forgotten our roots.

"The night he announced this was somewhat comical. The room was silent as we all stared into nothing listening to him speak about down town Idanre and the beautiful hills and the fun we can catch when we visit. I borrowed the 'catch' from my very good friend VicO. Daddy and Mummy felt the house in Idanre was such a great idea and I felt it was preposterous I mean all my nephews and nieces on a road trip? Really? Still unsure of what the end result will be, I bought a ticket to London because as far as I was concerned, that was a better option and so I packed my bags all the while thinking to myself that it has to be better than going to the village.

"The weather was cold just how I love it, the streets of London were lit to warm your heart and everywhere you looked, there was a reminder of the season we were celebrating. I was so excited to see my cousins who already had their Christmas stocking in place. They had a sock up on the tree with my name on it and that made me feel very welcomed. I had to hit the shop fast and do my last minute shopping as I was running out of time and everyone knows that at Christmas, time is of the essence.

"I also had to plan for the days ahead with some sort of amusement as my family was back home and I made the choice to come to cold and empty London and it didn't turn out half bad. I got some time to reflect and set some goals that I needed to achieve in the coming year. It was fun playing catch up with my cousins who have never been to Nigeria and Christmas eve was magical. We sat around the heater to stay warm and sang carols with some good ol' fried chicken and wine till it was Christmas morning. A display of fireworks in the sky made me feel at peace, though I missed home, this holiday made me appreciate the simple things the little ones we take so much for granted like waking up in the morning, a walk down the street and the pleasant smiles we exchange with total strangers, the lights at Christmas so beautiful somehow makes you think, damn the year was long, there were many ups and downs but I made it. Last but not the least the real reason behind the season, which is love. Love for all mankind."

Burna Boy, Musician: "Well my fondest Christmas memory would have to be December 2010. I officially came back to Nigeria a couple months before and decided to do this music thing professionally, told my parents and they weren't really supportive initially but I was persistent. Dropped a couple freestyle on radio in PH, got signed to my label; Aristokrat Records, and got booked for the Calabar Christmas carnival. An actual paid gig less than 3 months in, so I told my parents I was going to Calabar for the carnival and to my surprise they, my two sisters and a couple family friends all came down with me to support me. We ended up spending the Christmas holiday there and its was definitely one to remember.

Wizkid, Musician: "There was one Christmas, I got up like 7am, took my shower and went to wear my Christmas clothes and someone threw fireworks on me. It burnt my shirt. My mum almost killed me that day because we hadn't even gone to Church. At the end of the day, it was a fun Christmas. I still rocked it that way."

Ms Jaie, Musician: "Every Christmas growing up in my house from as young as I can remember were always so magical. My most special Christmas was when I was four, because it was the last one I spent with my family. My Mumzie had just come home from hospital with my 1st Christmas present a new baby and even though I asked for a girl, a boy wasn't so bad, he was a pretty baby so I figured I'd still manage to play with him. My mum always waited until I was asleep on Christmas eve and would transform the house into a winter wonderland… Everything from a huge tree and flashing lights to a stocking at the end of my bed full of everything I could imagine, I used to get so excited I used to run around like a headless chicken screaming "it's Christmas, it's Christmas". Christmas breakfast was always really nice but all I was thinking about was the presents under the tree. Once we said prayers it was time to rip and pose as we called it…

"Once you ripped open your gift you pose for the camera. I remember 10 was always the number of gifts I received and would open them from smallest to largest. I don't remember everything I received but I do remember a huge brown rocking horse and my little mermaid tape with a VCR player! Oh gosh, I remember that night it was so cool we all sat and watched my little mermaid. My parents even pretended to enjoy it. Which was a bad move, as I tried to replicate that evening every night for a week with the same movie. Eggnog, mice pies, skittles and loads of pink always made the best Christmas experiences."

D’banj Ignores Don Jazzy At Rhythm Unplugged

It seems like D'banj and Donjazzy aren't cool yet. The one time partners have not been cool with each other since the split which brought an end to Mo'Hits records.

Donjazzy announced last week that he was opening his nite club and almost about the same time D'banj announced the same too and it was being speculated that there was some form of competition and rivalry between the both of them.

It was reported that several artists who were present at the recent Rhythm Unplugged kept hailing Don Jazzy who sat the V.I.P but when D'danj mounted the stage during Kswitch's performance neither him nor his brother took notice of Don Jazzy's presence but just kept performing. D'banj noticeably did not perform any song produced by Don Jazzy, and that sure passes a lot of message.

REVEALED: Chris Brown was paid $1 million for Lagos Concert

Popular singer Chris Brown was paid at least $1m (about N156m) to travel down to Lagos with a 15 man crew last week, our investigations have revealed.

The Grammy-winning singer stopped over in South Africa, for concerts in Cape Town and Jo'burg, before heading down to Lagos for the show.

The Lagos event, built into Brown's on-going world tour, was organised by Kilimanjaro Events – same company that promoted Rick Ross and Anita Baker in the past.

Financial details were not made public, but we found that Oando boss Wale Tinubu was a major financier, as well as Etisalat, which provided last minute sponsorship.

Chris Brown was to make a brief appearance at the Oando end-of-year gig, but we're told that did not happen.
It was Brown's second time in Nigeria, the first being for a THISDAY Music Festival performance a few years ago.
Sources told us the fees 'could have been more' if he was required to perform with a live band or if he had to do multiplevenues or cities.

Although he performed with a DJ and backing track, with two back-up singers and four dancers, he gave a good account of himself, treating fans to almost two hours of a well-planned set that left guests asking for more.

Chris Brown's tour will continue early next year with a scheduled performance in Cote D'Ivoire.

Popular Comedian, AY, Apologises For Tweet On Wife’s Car Gift

Popular comedian, Ayo Makun aka AY, has apologised for tweeting about the car gift he gave his wife recently.

AY had on Monday tweeted a message to his wife, Mabel, saying he bought her an Acura ZDX car worth N10 million as a Christmas gift.

"Wifey this is my anniversary/Xmas gift to U, 4 being a friend, Sister, wife & Mother. I love u," he wrote.

He also attached two shots of the car and his wife to the tweet.

The tweet did not apparently go down well with some of his followers, who perceived it as a "show-off."

On Tuesday, he responded thus, "Sorry 4 tweeting about d car I BOUGHT 4 my wife. Never knew sharing my excitement was going to be perceived as show-off/ complex problem."

7. Chidinma

10. Linda Ikeji

HipHop Duo, Skuki Set To Launch ‘PEESHAUN’ Condoms..

Doesn't it sound odd? Nigerian hiphop group, Tumininu Laolu- Oguniyi and Atewologun Laolu-Ogunniyi popularly called Skuki, will be launching their own brand of condoms next year.

Speaking on reasons for delving into the business, the brothers who became famous after their hit song, Banger stated that it is their way of giving back to the society and preaching about sex education to teenagers. Really??!

"We are great believers in the fact that the youth are the leaders of tomorrow and have to learn from a young age that if you can't abstain, you have to play safe. But not only that, we are looking at it from the concept of family planning, of teenage pregnancies and putting a stop to it.

Every pregnant teenager in our society is another teenager that has to stop schooling in order to handle the situation they find themselves in. It goes way more than just the condom and sex part." They added.

I don't really know if I ll say this is creative.. But all the same I think we should preach 'Abstinence'.. But if you must do IT.. Grab a 'Peeshaun' condom.

Funke ‘JENIFA’ Akindele Is The Richest Yoruba Actress

Funke Akindele, popularly known as Jenifa or Suliya Kan Ayetoro Kan, is a young talented yoruba actress who rose to fame in "I Need To Know", a TV series that highlighted the effect of HIV/AIDS amongst young people, and went on to earn a monstrous fame with her rib cracking movie, "JENIFA".

So far, Funke has made over N56 million, netting over N20 million in 2012 alone. In her movie "The Return of
Jenifa", Funke earned N35 million. Her movie, "Married but Living Single" made N9.9 million while "Maami" made N11 million. The actress is on her way to another cinema glory with a movie, "A Wish".

Let's hope she will be able to wave the magical wand again and create a box-office success. Her movie, Jenifa cuts across all social groups with the street parlance in it becoming the mode of communication in social gathering.
Everyone now says "YELSE" instead of YES, "BIZ GIRL" instead of BIG GIRL, and so on. Aside the fact that she's the richest yoruba movie actress, i think she's the most talented and exciting them all. She recently got married to Kenny Almaroof.

10 Hottest Producers Of 2012

In the Nigerian entertainment scene for 2012, music was definitely an on all-time high. Here are 10 music producers were the cream of the crop this year…

DON JAZZY: It has been a very big and memorable year for Michael Collins. Breaking up with former music label partner D'banj, launching his own label, bagging major endorsement deals, we almost forgot his true talent – making music.  But Jazzy did make some notable contributions this year – solely producing the 'surprise' MAVIN album 'Solar Plexus' and a large chunk of younger brother's debut 'FRENZY.' Don't forget D'banj's 'Oliver Twist' which blew up in Europe.

SARZ: Osaretin Osabuohien used 2012 to fully establish himself, signing with Trybe Records. The spotlight turned to him in 2012, producing 99 percent of label boss eLDee's 'Undeniable' album, working with Reminisce, EME, Banky W and more.

COBHAMS ASUQUO: Alternative-Soul singers Timi Dakolo and Bez might have released their 'Beautiful Noise' and 'Super Sun' albums last year, but producer Cobhams enjoyed the accolades and praise in 2012 when their singles hit the airwaves. Cobby (as Banky W calls him) also played an instrumental role, producing the ballad 'Rich and famous' for upcoming artiste Praiz and threw in a late one 'Yes/No' for Banky W.

SPELLZ: Most of the hits you heard in 2012 were birthed by this young talent. Working with 9ice (On point feat Wizkid), EME (Roll it, Don't go there, London girl), Tiwa Savage (Folarin), Banky W (Good good loving) and 2face (Omo no dulling ft Dammy Krane, Rocksteady), need we say more?

TEE-Y MIX: If he wasn't acting as a judge at the Project Fame West Africa talent show, he was making hits for the likes of Naeto C (Tony Montana rmx ft D'banj), working closely with 9ice on his Bashorun Gaa LP (Everyday, Adigun Ojuwon'lo, ShakaShiki, Attitude, Pace Setter, 3310) and then bagging the 'Producer of the Year' award at The Headies 2012.

D'TUNES: Adesanya Doyinsola's claim to fame is production for the hit song 'Kukere' by Iyanya, released in late 2011. The song peaked in 2012 and immediately became a hit record. D'Tunes worked with Iyanya for a second time and produced another club hit 'Ur waist'. He also worked with rappers EFA on the controversial 'E2DFA', Reminisce on 'If only' and KWAM 1's daughter Honey B.

SHIZZI: We might not have paid attention to Wande Coal when he screamed Shizzi's name back in 2006 on the 'C.V' album but 2012 saw him knocking down walls with hit songs like Davido's 'Dami Duro,' 'Gbon gbon,' 'Overseas', Wizkid's 'Body' and more.

LEGENDARY BEATZ: The brothers Uzezi Oniko and Okiemute Oniko, who started hard with hits like Mo'cheddah's 'Ko ma roll' and Brymo's 'Ara' dominated this year with their production on EME's 'Baddest Boy.' They also worked on Reminisce's '2 mussh' and Illbliss' 'Emi ni baller' feat Tha Suspect and Chidinma.

WOLE ONI: The seasoned producer's work on singer J'odie's album is enough to put him on the list. Wole Oni's meticulous touch and musical arrangement on J'odie's album was exemplary and extraordinary.

J SLEEK: Sleeky Sleeky had a fantastic run this year (save for that Don Jazzy snub). Signing and producing for D'banj on 'Oyato,' working on the massive 'Get this party started' 2face-D'banj-Wizkid-Tiwa Savage-M.I collabo, and of course usual suspect 2face on 'Ihe neme.'

Top 10 Radio Stations Of 2012

A number of Nigerian radio stations stepped up their game this year, from news coverage to presenting proper music charts and structured playlists. Check out our list of the 10 radio stations that need to be applauded in 2012.

In Alphabetical order…

BEAT FM 99.9: The urban radio station clearly leads the pack in 2012 with their style of presentation, show concepts and premiere of new music, leaning heavily on the personalities of some of their popular presenters such as Toolz, Gbemi, Olisa, and newcomer Osi Suave, who dominated the night time. Beat  FM is now expanding, with the first of many upcoming stations ready to roll out in Ibadan in a matter of weeks.

CITY FM 105.1: Re-launched in July 2012, CITY FM was bolstered by the inclusion of Tony Doe, Westsyde, JLuv and K-Show, who made a mass exodus from Radio Continental to the Ogba based radio station. There's still room for improvement, but the crew have done pretty well despite their past financial problems.

CLASSIC FM 97.3: The one stop radio portal for the oldies took a giant leap this year, moving ahead of rival station Smooth FM.

COOL FM 96.9: Riding on the back of OAPs Freeze and Kaylah, Mannie and D Angels and Joyce, COOL FM kept it running tight in 2012. The station was able to keep the premium brand intact but still watered down their shows to accommodate the average listener. They also settled their legal battle with COSON, finally agreeing to pay artiste royalties. Add to that one or two controversial interviews with D'banj and Tonto Dike.

INSPIRATION FM 92.3: A fusion of slow paced music and pop, Inspiration FM garnered quite a following, and in 2012, Shola Thompson and the gang kept it thorough, catering to the multi-cultural community.

LAGOS TRAFFIC RADIO: Launched by the Lagos State Government in May 2012, the essence of its existence is to help ease the traffic congestion in Lagos. Almost every driver is now tuning in for traffic updates.

NIGERIA INFO 99.3: In just one year of existence, the 'Talk, News and Sports' station has become the go-to for current affairs and relevant info on sports, entertainment and more. Its style of presentation is a break from the norm…

RHYTHM FM 97.3: The seaside station continued with their brilliant presentation style – with IK Osakioduwa, Big Tyme and Omalicha leading the pack. Blending the old school with the new, their format of news casting and the use of in-house DJs Humility and Sose were some of their strong points in 2012. And they replicated the formular in stations spread across the country.

TOP RADIO 90,9: The ever energetic morning show 'Area' anchored by Tosyn Bucknor remains a big reason Top Radio makes the cut. With a more grounded appeal, Top Radio dominated this year.

WAZIOBA FM 95.1: With Yaw, Diplomatic OPJ and Lolo, Wazobia could do no wrong in 2012. Catering for a segment that was ignored for years, Wazobia has emerged a leader, and hit hit with mass audiences from Abuja to Kano, Port Harcourt and Lagos.

The 10 Hottest Nigerian Rappers Of 2012

There was a sharp decline in the release of Hip-Hop materials in 2012, notwithstanding, a handful of rappers managed to do us proud.

Here is our top 10 list for the hottest rappers in Nigeria  of 2012….

10. PHYNO: The Igbo-speaking rapper proved his worth in 2012 releasing the duet 'Ghost mode' with Olamide, bagging three nominations at The Headies, and then collaborating with Illbliss on 'Amanchi Kwanu'.

9. D'PRINCE: The MAVIN act started this year with controversies over his actual record deal with former label Mo'Hits but bounced back with yet another banger 'Take banana' off the MAVIN compilation 'Solar Plexus'. He finally released his debut 'FRENZY!' featuring the likes of M.I, Wizkid and others.

8. MODENINE: Nigel Benn didn't drop his long awaited album in 2012 due to record label issues but turned it up with two mixtapes 'Occupy The Throne' and 'Alphabetical Order' with XYZ. He was one of the judges at the 'Nokia Don't Break the Beat' rap competition which led to his verbal face-off with female rapper Muna that put him on the headlines for weeks before they eventually squashed it an Industry Nite gig.

7. ILLBLISS: The 'Ibo Boy' finally returned with his A-game in 2012 after a subtle absence. Although he spent most of the year grooming R&B singer Chidinma who is currently under his Goretti label, he released his 'Oga Boss' album with the hits 'Anamachi Kwanu' feat Phyno and Heartbeats feat Banky W.

6. NAETO C: Mr Super C kept it pushing this year, the most remarkable thing was signing on as a Hennessey Artistry headliner along with M.I. He also released his 'Tony Montana' single and remix with a big budget video featuring D'banj. Away from music a bit; he tied the knot with his beau Nicole at a high society wedding.

5. REMINISCE: In 2012, Mr Remilekun Safaru finally got the respect he's been clamouring for by working hard on his skills and street image. Being one of the two Yoruba-lingo rappers to dominate this year, Remi pulled stunts with the release of his debut 'Book of Rap Stories' which brought the street anthems 'Kako bi chicken' and '2musssh'. He dedicated two weeks throwing jabs at another rapper Vector and spent the latter part of the year performing outside the country.

4. M.I:  Jude Abaga takes fourth spot for releasing the 'dopest' mixtape of the year 'Illegal Music 2' which he launched on his website MIABAGA.com and renewing his contract as VP at his label Chocolate City in April (dispelling rumours he was leaving the label, following the launch of his Loopy Music label). He also was the the Hennessy Artistry co-headliner alongside Naeto C…

3. OLAMIDE: The Yoruba-speaking lyricist took the world by storm, returning with a powerful sophomore, what we might call the rap album of the year. Olamide's' 'YBNL' which produced the singles 'Voice of the Streets' and 'First of all' was released in the latter part of 2012 and showed a lot of improvement lyrically. He parted way with CODED Tunes and launched his own label YBNL Nation working with Tony Nwankolo as his manager.

2. VECTOR: V.E.C was quite busy all year – performing, recording or touring. He won two awards each at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards as well as the coveted 'Lyricist on the roll' at The Headies. In 2012, he also recorded and released a song and video with Jamaican dancehall singer Mavado. He has also recorded with rapper DMX. He released his 'Bar Racks' mixtape only to drop the album' The Second Coming' in December.

1. ICE PRINCE: If the rap game was a marathon race, in 2012 Panshak Zamani left his colleagues behind by kilometres. The rapper clearly made the most money this year, performing back-to-back in and out of the country – the after effect of his debut 'Everybody Loves Ice Prince'.  When NET broke the news about the Choc City act's baby, he initially denied, but he's since confirmed the baby's his accepted responsibility. He ended the year pretty well by co- hosting the Chanel O Awards after releasing two new singles 'Aboki' and 'More'.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: That title goes to upcoming rapper Boogey who only in 2012 featured on Modenine, M.I and Terry tha Rapman's mixtapes. He successfully released his mixtape 'Artificial Intelligence' and reportedly signed a deal before calling 2012 wrap.

PHOTOS : Chris Brown - ‘This House I’m At In Nigeria Is Big As F**k!’

Last night, December 22, 2012 Chris Brown stunned and thrilled the Nigerian fans who attended his concert held at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites.

With his mind off the show after giving a good account of himself, the 23-year-old has bigger concerns, one of them being the size of the undisclosed Lagos home show organizers lodged him in.

Bewildered by the size of the house, Chris Brezzy Instagramed a few pictures with the caption 'This house I'm at in Nigeria is big as f**k!'. He put up other photos included him playing with two dalmatian dogs.

36-Year-Old Virgin Reveals The Secrets To Practicing Abstinence

Forty-three-year-old Lakita Garth was a 36-year-old virgin in 2005 when she kissed her boyfriend-turned-husband for the first time. Garth has gone public about her 36 years of virginity and is now helping other women around the world learn how to refrain from s*x prior to marriage.

Excerpts from her interview are below:

On Her Family's Influence on Her Choice:

In my family, if you had s*x outside of marriage, someone got married, or someone got shot! I come from a line of Christians that believe your faith must impact the culture. It has to go farther than your personal relationship with Christ.

On Choos

To be single was to be undistracted in my devotion to God. Keep your options open. God's perfect mate for you may not look or sound like your 'fantasy mate'.

One commenter with the user name "Chris" did not agree with Garth's advice. He responded to her interview saying:

"The Bible does not make any of the claims that this article makes about s*xual purity before marriage.

The abstinence model of Christianity is an inherited tradition and not a hard and fast line which the Bible draws. "Don't have s*x before marriage!" they say. Why?

The Bible says we should abstain from "s*xual immorality." What is s*xual immorality? "s*x before marriage," they say. Says who? It is a tradition, not an inviolable maxim — a tradition which made sense in earlier cultures where everyone married and they did so at a young age.

s*x before marriage is certainly a risky venture, but articles like these unnecessarily shame devoted lovers who have not yet overcome the logistical hurdles of holding a wedding.

In all honesty, the girl in this article sounds totally self-absorbed/self-righteous, some of the most disgusting traits for a Christian to have.

We should not be holding her up as a model for Christian women."

How Celebrities Plan To Spend Xmas Holiday

There is always a plan for Christmas. Almost everyone has one plan or the other to wrap up the year in grand style.

But oftentimes, the anxiety of the Yuletide catches us below the belt and abandons us in the creek without paddle as to what to do, where to be, who to be with, and other one million naira questions.

But these movie stars aren't entirely different from the average man in the crowd. Quite a number of them plan what the rest of us do every Christmas with no sense of the dramatics. Simple breakfast of rice and chicken, cosy drinks with friends and family and probably push out for some fun in some bars or beaches or a fast trip to the village to see ''home people'' you haven't seen all year long.

To get the picture that Christmas isn't all that is extra-terrestrial, be it a star or schmuck, some of your movie idols share how they plan to spend Christmas holiday:

Bob Manuel-Udokwu:

For actor, Bob Manuel, Christmas isn't going to be a long trip in some far away fancy fun-seeking spot, like a true Igbo man. Bob plans to spend his Christmas holiday in his country home, in Ogidi " I will spend my Xmas with my family in my home town, Ogidi in Anambra State. Attend thanksgiving, weddings and other functions till the first week of 2013 then, return to Lagos."

Actress Uche Joan Iwuanyanwu

Uche who made a big hit in movies like ''Under My Pillow'', ''Queen''s Island, has a different ideas about how she is going to spend the Xmas. For her, the holiday begun long before Christmas comes knocking. " This Xmas I will be doing a lot! Got lots of family events to attend. Meanwhile I already spent the first two weeks of December relaxing in Dubai. Just got back. Where to next depends on my events"

Doris Simon

I would be seeing my family members. You would agree with me that my job is so time-demanding that I don't have time all the time to see them. Aside that, I would be doting on my son as well as my younger ones, who have always stayed true to me. Lastly, I would be giving back to society that has been there for me via the less privileged, however I don't publicise or make people see that side of me"

Lola Alao

The beautiful Lola Alao has what can be described as a social diary for the Yuletide holiday with almost each day with something different to offer. Her itinerary will make any flight manifest look like a Kindergarten painting on the wall. " On December 20th will be at Ikeja G.R.A. For a programme.

On 21st at 68 in Adeniran Ogunsanya. On 22nd at Ife in Osun State. On 24th at Majenta Hotel, Isheri. On 25th at Okla Hotel, Egbeda, Lagos. On 26th at Warehouse Hotel, Toyin Street, Ikeja. On 27th at Gani Adams party. On 28th at Bobby's Nite Club, Ikorodu. On 29th at Lekki for opening of a new hotel."

Empress Njamah isn't planning a White Christmas neither is she dreaming of another home-coming, family reunion thing. She wants an exotic Christmas away from the country. " I am trying to spend my Xmas away from the regular noise (bangers) in Nigeria and go somewhere quiet but not snowy too. Still planning", she said but it seems Europe is not in the cards this time around as most parts are snowing their hearts out at the moment.

Foluke Daramola

I will be spending Xmas with my family in Ghana. We just want to take time out to reminisce and reflect about life and also be together as a family. We also intend to visit the less privileged and friends too and give them gifts.

Ebube Nwagbo

I will be travelling to the East .

Laide Bakare

Her hands are full as she would be looking forward to seeing her new mega bucks movie "Jejere" make a tour of the cinemas this Xmas through to New Year.

Benita Nzeribe who is presently shooting a new weekly game show for Malta Guinness Low Sugar has said after she completed the shooting, she hopes to travel to the United Kingdom for a week-long holiday. And thereafter, return to the country refreshed and ready for the next year.

With a lot of shows to perform in this festive season, Davido can't help but be caught in traffic after a fan of his mentioned him on Twitter that she spotted him a while ago.

Davido smiled to the camera in his car. Guess he just cashed in.

TuFace Vs BlackFace on African Queen. Story Continues

Am sure most of us must have heard about the gist between TuFace and BlackFace over the ownership of African Queen song. The story of Tuface hitting Lime Light came from the song African Queen, and BlackFace, a member of the group Plantashun Boiz which they both broke away from, claims that the song was written by him.

Here is some interview with BlackFace on Entertainment Express

I know the song has generated a whole lot of revenue. Right now, I and Tuface have joint ownership of that song. But from the inception it was not like that. My publisher, BMI had to find a way to work that out. All the funds the song has been generating I'm supposed to have 50 per cent of it, which I'm not getting and I don't just know what is happening. There is even a situation whereby somebody in Jamaica sang African Queen and some other persons like that of which I was not aware. Nobody told me that he was going to sing my song. So, there are some issues that I and Tuface need to sit down and iron out, but Tuface is difficult to get on the table. So I have decided to do it on my own. Surely, with time we'll get to the root of the matter because we both have 50 per cent right to the song.

That means Tuface has been cheating you

Yes, because I was not being paid and you know the way it is in Nigeria, the ideology is that because one is not on one particular record label they won't put his name to a song he wrote just because they don't want to promote the person. But the fact is that your intellectual property remains you intellectual property, nobody can take that away from you.

But you sang your own version of the song

Yes, I have a reggae version of African Queen, which I'm still going to re-record. I did that because there was a time some people were trying to claim ownership of the song.

Did you ask him to include the song in his album?

Yes, we wrote it together and I gave him permission to do so because when he was recording his album we were still living in the same apartment. I found out that the album was not making any sense, so I told him that the only thing that will allow the album to make sense is to include the song African Queen which we both wrote. But I didn't say he should take away my own right. That is the rider. For the fact that I wrote a song for you to perform does not mean you should claim it and deprive me of my own right.

Who came up with the idea of the song?

It was actually one Idoma man called Willy Walkman. He told us to do a song for his soap opera and the title of the soap opera was African Queen that we should write a theme song for the soap. We started writing in earnest. Then one day he just came and was like, we are not serious about it that he didn't want to be our manager again not knowing that we were already doing what he asked us to do. That was how he threw us out. So African Queen was Willy's idea.

Why did you allow Plantashun Boys to die?

There was no agreement that we would split but we all knew when we started that the group won't last. We all used the group as a platform to build our music careers. Plantashun Boys was my idea. The names, Faze and Tuface, was my idea. I gave them those names. But I don't always dwell on that because that is an old story. Right now, it's all about my fans, my career and my new album. Then, everybody just wanted to go solo. People just think that there's a story behind our split but there's none.

Who was the first to come up with the idea of going solo?

Don't you know who released his first album when we went solo?

Let's assume I don't know

Tuface was the first to release his album and we all know it, even then we were still living together.

How did you feel when he left the group?

How else will I feel when I already knew it would happen? The fact is that when Tuface released his album we never expected him to do so.

You once said that nothing will make you guys work together again, why did you featured Faze in your upcoming album?

Working as a team is different from working with Faze or Tuface alone. Like when I was in Malaysia, Faze sent me a beat that he wanted me to do on the track, I was supposed to write a lyrics on it and do the voicing, but I couldn't do it till I get back to the country. When I came back, we went to the studio and I did my own part and I left. The mixing of the song is not my business, whether it is sounding well or not, I don't have any problem to do with that because we are not working as a team.

You talk more about Faze unlike your brother Tuface, why is it so?

Yeah because Faze is just a cool guy, he's a normal guy without any problem. If I and Tuface have any reason to relate, we relate. See, you don't hide friendship, if we are friends I don't need to tell you before you know that. I don't force myself on people. Like this my guy, Skinny; we met recently and it seems as if we have known each others for years. That is what friendship is all about.

So what is your relationship with Tuface?

We are ex members of Plantashun Boys.

When was the last time you and Tuface communicated?

Omo the communication just dey o. Everybody is on his own but I communicate with Faze often.

Does that mean you are close to Faze than Tuface?

Yes, because I like a kind of people that I can discuss music with. I and Faze often talk about music, rhythm and career development. Faze is more of a person I can discuss that kind of thing with unlike Tuface.

Why is it so?

It's just natural; you can't take that away from Faze because he has always being like that. Faze is a cool guy and Tuface too. We are all just there. Na on your own level we dey.

What of your two kids, how are they doing?

They are fine, growing quick and doing very well, they are with their mum.

Why did your wife abandon you?

Nothing really happened. The fact is just that when a man is going through tribulations, not every woman will stand by him. But it's all good, I'm just trying to start my life all over again.

Is there any plan of taking her back?

We've not even discussed that yet. My priority now is me and my career. Now that I don't have any family I think it is it time to pick myself up and start all over again. I have a studio in my house; I work day in, day out, because I really want to get back to my fans. So until I feel that I'm ok then I will give that a second thought.

Does that mean your wife "took a walk" because you could no longer fend for the family?

Maybe that is what she felt; I can't question her decision. I don't know what was on her mind. That is why you need to see her and ask her. Because, myself, I cannot explain.

How often do you people communicate?

Once in a while.

What about your kids?

We talk always because they have their own phones. Caroline is 7 and Alex is going to be 5 very soon. My daughter is going to be a singer too.

Marijuana Better For Brain Than Alcohol – Study

A teen who consumes alcohol is likely to have reduced brain tissue health, but a teen who uses marijuana is not, according to a new study.

Researchers scanned the brains of 92 adolescents, ages 16 to 20, before and after an 18-month period. During that year and a half, half of the teens — who already had extensive alcohol and herb-use histories — continued to use mary-jane and alcohol in varying amounts. The other half abstained or kept consumption minimal, as they had throughout adolescence.

The before-and-after brain scans of the teens consuming typically five or more drinks at least twice a week showed reduced white matter brain tissue health, study co-author Susan Tapert, neuroscientist at University of California, San Diego, told HuffPost. This may mean declines in memory, attention, and decision-making into later adolescence and adulthood, she said.

However, the level of herb use — up to nine times a week during the 18 months — was not linked to a change in brain tissue health. The researchers did not test performance; they only looked at brain scans.

The study was conducted by researchers at UC San Diego and is scheduled to be published in the April issue of the journal Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research.

The damage occurs because white matter brain tissue develops throughout adolescence and into a person's 20s, Joanna Jacobus, postdoctoral fellow at the UC San Diego, and co-author of the study, told HuffPost.

Part of that still-developing brain tissue is where decision-making ability comes from, which can exacerbate substance use. "It becomes a cycle. If teens decrease their tissue health and cognitive ability to inhibit themselves, they might become more likely to engage in risky behavior like excessive substance use," Jacobus said.

The researchers are not sure why alcohol had an effect and marijuana did not. They said the study results cannot be considered definitive without more research. They also said they do not know if the reduced brain tissue health is permanent.

Because the researchers followed the subjects for 18 months, they were able to at least partially monitor preexisting differences in the two groups. But Jacobus conceded that eliminating other factors — such as genetics, home environment, and even minimal use of other drugs — is very difficult.

Each teen in the study received brain imaging, a detailed substance-use assessment, and toxicology screening at the beginning of the study and at the end of the study — as well as substance-use interviews every six months.
