AP Names Adele 'Entertainer Of 2012′

English singer Adele has been named the entertainer of the year by the Associated Press for having the most influence on entertainment and culture in 2012.

Adele beat the likes of Taylor Swift, Psy and Twilight Crew with 132 ballots submitted by subscribers of AP.

Adele started her career when a friend of hers posted her song on a social networking site MySpace.

The 24-year-old is the first female in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have three singles in the top 10 at the same time as a lead artist, also first female artist to have two albums in the top five of the Billboard 200 and two singles in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously.

She received the Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2009 at the age of 21.

The Billboard magazine says Adele has the true potentials to become among the most respected and inspiring international artists of her generation.
