GIST : Uti Nwachukwu Is Gay And Alex Ekubo Is His Gay "Partner"

Ever wonder why Uti and Alex always appear together on red carpet and other public events? or why Uti has never ever been romantically linked to any woman? The affair between Uti and Alex is typical of what is obtained in the gay community there's never total loyalty and 100% submission to the other partner that explains why Uti still has his many other casual flings and Alex does his own by the side.

But contrary to that impression, they have been dating since their path crossed and were they to be living in any western country this relationship would have most likely had some sort of legalization to it, but unfortunately this is Nigeria where we pretend to have zero tolerance for this abnormal love relationship.

Perfectly illustrate how their affair thrives it will be important to simplify the gaayy strata; in the gaayy world there are three stanzas: top, bottom, and versatile.

The top is the man in the relationship and he penetrates the bottom who acts as the woman in the relationship.

The versatile is that lover who can play both roles. Gorgeous Alex who is not only the man in this relationship but well-endowed in the down region has built a reputation amongst his previous lovers and it was a devastation when they lost him to the passionately Intimate Uti who has an insatiable quest for fun.

Uti has undying fleets of female admirers but in his closet he would laugh at them because they are all in search of the same thing he's looking out for.
That explains why he has no girlfriend despite his super fit look.

This prompted one of the Island big girls who have exhausted all tricks in the book trying to woo Uti to make a move she will live to regret.

She was invited to their 1004 apartment and she went with the delusion of climaxing her best ecstasy only to receive an indescribable shock!

After the usual tete-a-tete Uti left her in the sitting room and returned to the bedroom, when it was taking too long she decided to try her luck by heading to the bedroom only to find Alex and Uti in a very uncompromising position. She ran to the sitting room, picked her bag and dashed off, even with apologies that came after, she still feels humiliated as they should have waited for her to leave before getting dirty.

That is just a tip of the iceberg into the erotically flamed relationship between the two "supermodels".

At the last Arise fashion show held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Uti made sure designers who signed him on also signed on Alex otherwise he wouldn't work with them, this was to make sure that his darling boyfriend is part and parcel of that prestigious show. It was a rude shock to a lot of those present but they cared less because being on the runway of such a well- publicized fashion show was going to be hugely beneficial to Alex's rising profile.

They travel in and out of the country together, all sponsored by Uti, but that is not to say that fine boy Alex has not worked for the perks he has put in all his energy and strength in his "official" duties as his "publicist" but is also very difficult for them as they cannot make this affair public.

Without an iota of doubt Alex is not only Uti's commitment as they seem to have an open sort of arrangement.

In Abuja, Uti has become one scandalous high flyer, on numerous occasions his name has been dragged into many boyfriend-snatching scandals prompting one of Abuja leading gaayy flyers to declare him unwanted in his circle of friends. The way he rolls his eyes and bats his eyelid add that to his high octane preening, Uti prides himself as having the ability to bend a straight guy.

GIST : Top Ghanaian Actor Majid Mitchel's Love Child In South Africa Revealed, Allegedly Dumps Babymama, Child Without Care

For those close to top Ghanaian actor and current AMAA best actor, Michel Majid, his arrogance to some of his friends, fans and the media is nothing to write home about. That is even a matter for another day.

One thing that cannot also been taken away from this handsome, half-cast and tall actor is his love for anything under skirt. Though he is happily married with kids; Keira and Zara, but Majid still reportedly gets many ladies lubricate his 'joystick' at every given opportunities.

This may have brought about his encounter with a South Africa-based entertainer who was in Ghana in December 2009 for a shopping spree. As our source told us, this lady (name withheld but we would address as Lady K), is aged 25 and her name starts with letter K and ends with letter Z. She sings at some fun spots during weekends and owns an entertainment outfit in South Africa.

Revealing exclusively to Nigeriafilms.com how the pair met, our source said their first meeting was in December 2009 in Accra Mall. Majid then took her to a club and then retired to Madindi Hotel in Ghana. While the two of them played their away matches on a neutral stadium, Majid thought he had an 'Edwin Vandersar' as his shot-stopper not knowing there was a 'Lionel Messi' that has already netted a goal in a very impossible angle.

"So, when Lady K called Majid to inform him of the latest development, he flared up. He later change his phone contacted. I felt for her, but there was nothing I could do to help her," , the source informed us.

"I remembered Lady K called Majid on Friday, September 24, 2010, two days after his birthday, that she has given birth to his (Majid) child which happened to be a girl. It was a mixed feelings but there was nothing he could do but to tell the lady that he was not part of it. He then told her to send pictures of the baby to him which she did," our source revealed to us.

The source further told us that in August 2011, shortly before the baby, who was later Sandra, was about turning one, the mother wanted Majid to set his eyes on his daughter, but he (Majid) didn't make it come to pass. "When Lady K wanted to come to Ghana with the child in August 2011 with the aim of Majid seeing the baby for the first, he kicked against it. He told Lady K to come to Ghana alone because Sandra was too young to fly from South Africa to Ghana.

"Lady K had no choice but to agree to him. The funniest thing was that when the lady came to Ghana, Majid told her that he was not in Ghana. As a result, he didn't show up to meet with her when she arrived," our source pitifully told us.

Our brief investigation on Lady K shows that she is still unmarried and has put the child under the care of a family friend. We also gathered that Majid has practically abandoned them in South Africa as he is believed not to bother about their upkeeps.

When Nigeriafilms.com contacted Majid on this story, he denied having any daughter in South Africa he is aware of. He then told us that the story is not true. Soon after, he called us back and asked if we were still going to publish the story, we told him we might publish it. But that if we publish it, his side of the story would be stated. He then said he recorded our conversation with him which we didn't raise eyebrow on even though he did that without our permission.

Majid is happily married with two kids. Our source told us that the celebrated actor fears his wife and that he does everything possible to make sure his sex scandals don't get to her even though he tries to cajole her on some reported ones.

GIST : Gunplay: “I Want To Kill 50 Cent”

Def Jam rapper Gunplay, after getting involved with members of 50 Cent's G-Unit crew at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop awards, decided to phone in to entertainment website TMZ Live to tell them what happened. And the rapper stated in, no uncertain terms, that he wanted to kill 50 Cent.

Gunplay said he had to fight off five dudes, who he believes were members of G-Unit. The 30-year old rapper from Texas stated that things got violent because he never liked G-Unit and had always wanted to kick 50 Cent's ass, and was glad he got the opportunity.

He added that he was trying to break 50 Cent's neck, and that 50 himself was involved in the action but kept "hiding behind security." He did manage to beat down one member of the crew, saying he " kicked one of their fat-asses… Kicked them off into the dirt", before the police came in and sprayed him with pepper spray.

He explained that his brawl had nothing to do with Rick Ross & Young Jeezy's altercation, but stated, "we just goin' at it with everybody… Let's go kill 'em all… If you're playing with me, you're playing with fire… Might get gunned down, ya never know."

And according to TMZ, he wasn't joking

RELATIONSHIP : 15 Wrong Reasons To Be In A Relationship

Being in a relationship has all sorts of perks. You have someone to talk to, someone to hug, kiss, and do things with at any given time. While relationships are nice, there are definitely the right reasons and the wrong reasons to decide to date someone.

Here are 15 wrong reasons for deciding to be committed to someone else.

Avoiding loneliness.

Having a significant other definitely makes your days and nights a lot less lonely, but if you're only dating in order to distract yourself from feeling lonely and alone, there's a problem!

You're bored.

You've got all sorts of spare time and not much to do with it. Sometimes when you have too much time on your hands, a quick romantic fixation can unbore you; at least for a little while.

Caught up on the moment.

Once the honeymoon phase of a relationship ends, some people tend to find that they were only dating because of the magical moments and times that were had. But, when that all ends, the passion is over, just like the relationship.

Filling a personal void.

If you have an inner void that you can't seem to figure out or shake, you probably think that having a loving and caring person in your life will make things better. Wrong! In fact, dating to fill a void only sets you up for a bad relationship.

You want sex.

Admit to it or not, there's plenty of people in the world who have gotten into a relationship simply because their hook-ups or one night stands were great.

Just because.

Maybe a guy or girl asked you out and you just decided to say yes for the heck of it. While flattery is nice, it's no means for a relationship.

Desperation.

So you haven't dated someone in years and to say the least, you're desperate for some TLC. Being desperate often lands you with the wrong person and a lot of wasted time, and money.

Convenient for you.

Maybe you've found a partner who lives closer to work, is near your favorite restaurant, will drive you anywhere, and gets discount tickets at the movies. The perks are nice, but in the end you're just using the person you're dating.

Career advances

Rarely do relationships at work go well. The bad part is that when they go bad, they can often go really really bad. Don't think about dating a boss or a higher-up co-worker to try to further your career. It will probably backfire.

Physical attraction.

Though it's not to be physically attracted to the person you're dating, if it's only a physical relationship, don't plan for it to last too long.

Peer pressure from friends and relatives.

So your best friend and your closest aunt have all been pushing you to find a man and you cave in. Though it's nice to appease others, if you're only playing the field to appeal to others, don't expect a quality relationship.

Your child needs a mom or dad.

Dating in order to fill a lack of a parent for your child is down right wrong. Having numerous men and women walking in and out of your kid's life can be traumatizing. Don't do it!

Money.

Money is nice. Okay, money is real nice, but it's nothing that can sustain a relationship. Money can't buy love, remember that.

Your clock is ticking.

So you're 35, unmarried, and you really want to get the ball rolling. While you may feel strapped for time and in a hurry, don't settle just because you're getting older.

For a self-esteem boost.

Dating someone to boost your self-esteem and self-worth is useless because if the relationship doesn't work, you're back to where you started. Learn to love yourself before getting into a relationship.

GIST : Nollywood actress, Dorothy Njamanze Beaten To Stupor By Army Officers

Dorothy Njamanze, one of the Nollywood actresses was assaulted by the Nigerian Army Force a couple of days ago, she was seriously brutalised that she is still in the hospital responding to treatment at Abuja Hospital.

The beautiful activist, who has been fighting against all kinds of violence against woman recounted her strange ordeal in the hands 'khaki boys'.

"On my way from the ambassador for peace beauty pageant held at the Sheraton Hotels, I decided to check on my brother at the end of my street. I parked my car in front of Dreams Garden at the end of my street behind one bus, and was going in to see Ugo (my brother) when a man dressed in a man-o-war uniform appeared from nowhere and shoved me on my breasts, commanding that I get into the bus I parked behind.

I reprimanded him for touching my breasts but instead of apologizing, he continued to pushing me by my breasts towards the bus, so when I couldn't bear it anymore I pushed him too and started running away.

Three men wearing man-o-war uniform and a head warmer, no name tags, and two plain clothes policemen ran after me. When they caught me they descended on me, beating me mercilessly despite the fact that I was screaming who I was.

A girl who was waiting for me in my car, after waiting for a while and didn't see me, came down to go and look for me at my brother's place. She was horrified to see all those uniformed men assaulting me and trying to force me into the bus.

She started pleading with them, telling them who I am and even showing them my car keys, but all to no avail. She started screaming when she thought they were going to kill me and that attracted people's attention.

When crowd gathered and people started recognizing me, they started coming to my rescue and there was almost a mob attack. A soldier out of fear cocked his gun and said he'll shoot me if I don't enter the bus.

What hurts most is that I've been fighting against violence against women, and now I'm a first victim of it. I have over 70 cases of abused women on Abuja streets. "The team that assaulted me tried to escape. I chased them down to area 10.

Ugo found me there and another soldier cocked a gun, pointed at his tummy and threatened to shoot. A female soldier cocked her gun and pointed at Justina, the girl in my car, who was supposed to be on my show (ability talk, earlier in the day on love 104.5fm). Apparently the female soldier wanted to shoot Justina for having piercings on her face, because she said Justina was not a true Nigerian by that," She said

She further stated that "women have been randomly abducted and forced to confess to prostitution by AEPB in conjunction with the questionable NGO, Society Against Prostitution and Child Labour.

I have over 70 cases against them and now I'm a victim. Women are not safe in Abuja.

The Military should be put to better use. It's high time they pay for the damages they have been causing. I am so traumatized. Having cocked guns pointed at us is a mental image that tortures me.

Government needs to hear us out, get facts and figures and stop the abuse against women. I wish the national assembly will permit me make a full presentation on the degree of this violence against women in Abuja and act immediately on it.

I have rape victims, bullet injury victims, people beaten out of their jeeps at gunpoint whose names were published as prostitutes in national dailies, abused youth corper all sorts of traumatized victims. These people need rehabilitation at difference levels urgently.

Well, we hope the government is reading because the worst kinds of violence are those against women and children," she concluded.

MUST READ : A Touching Story Shared By Pastor E.A. Adeboye (R C C G)

In 1956, while living with my uncle, we had our fair share of poverty. He was poor but I was poorer. We mutually shared whatever we had. One day, we were very hungry and there was no food in sight. Then all of a sudden a young girl approached us and said her sister asked her to give us the food she was carrying -pounded yam with vegetable
soup and chicken. My uncle told her he did not know her sister and asked if she was sure we were the right people the food was meant for. She replied in the affirmative, so we received the gift and my uncle told her he will be expecting more gifts from her sister like this one she brought. Immediately the girl left, we pounced on the food. As soon as we were done eating the food, the girl resurfaced and said it was all a mistake that the food was not for us. Who will give a hungry lion a goat and expect to get it back?

NOTE:
The mercy of God can corner what was meant for somebody else for the recipient of His mercy. This season, the mercy of God will bring you blessings and opportunities including the ones not initially meant for you. By an unplanned move or deed, mercy will connect you to your destiny. Mercy turns mistakes into appointments. When mercy is involved, there are no mistakes!

GIST : ’52 Most Influential People In Nigerian Entertainment.’

As Nigeria marks her 52nd year of independence,
Editors at Nigeria's Foremost Web-page for
entertainment (TheNETNG) sat down to make a list of
52 men and women shaping our growing
entertainment industry… Check It Out.
…………………………………………………..
2face Idibia:
Mr Innocent Ujah Idibia is one of the most influential,
the most consistent, the most decorated, and the
most successful musician in his generation. Even his
peers attest to that. From humble beginnings in Jos,
he has grown to become Africa's most iconic pop star,
clearing the path for hundreds of others after him.
Respected at home and abroad by almost everyone
that matters, Idibia is now building his Hypertek
dreams, mentoring younger acts like W4, Rocksteady
and Dammy Krane.
Alaba Marketers:
Although digital distribution is now finding its way to
Nigeria with platforms such as Spinlet, Truspot,
Iroking and Notjustok, and with the coming of Apple,
marketers like Obaino, ABHU, and TJOE still wield
their potent influence on music distribution. With
many Nigerians consuming physical CDs, and the
industry lacking the much-needed distribution
framework, Alaba is the headquarters of music sales,
with those there responsible for at least 90 percent of
annual music sales.
Alex Okosi:
Okosi sits atop Viacom's business in Africa, with
Nigeria being a major market. From MTV Base to
Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and now BET, he is one
of the few determining the direction of today's home
entertainment.
Ali Baba:
Nigeria's stand-up comedy industry has him to thank
for its rebirth and survival. The godfather of modern
comedy, Ali Baba is arguably one of the most
inspiring mentors and leaders still working within
entertainment. Still actively performing, he continues
to hold up the ladder for many to climb.
Amaka Igwe:
One of the architects of Nollywood, Amaka Igwe is
mostly known for creating Checkmate and Fuji House
of Commotion. But the writer/director/producer has,
for many years, been involved in training through her
Lagos-based institute. There's also her annual TV
expo BOBTV as well as Top Radio, the Lagos-based
FM station that's doing things differently.
Andy Bello:
For the last four years, Bello has taken it upon
himself to honour Nigerian musicians with the annual
South South Music Awards; the only recognized
awards show from that region. Solely organized by
his Lockdown Entertainment company, Bello has
been able to run the awards show with little or no
sponsors since 2009.
Audu Maikori:
For years, he was lawyer by day and poet by night.
These days, Maikori is a music entrepreneur by day
and night, building, along with his team, Chocolate
City, one of Africa's most successful labels. Audu's
label has brought hip hop music and culture to more
Nigerians than any other label – thanks to the
success of their recording artistes M.I, Brymo, Jesse
Jagz and Ice Prince.
Ayo Animashaun:
Animashaun is the executive producer of Nigeria's
only surviving music awards. Through his company,
Smooth Promotions, he has built The Headies (also
known as Hiphopworld Awards) as Nigeria's most
respected awards, as acknowledged by audiences
and the musicians they reward. Animashaun is also
the publisher of Nigeria's only surviving (although
epileptic) hip-hop journal HipHop World Magazine.
His TV show Hip TV, syndicated on multiple channels
here and abroad, is now warming up to become a 24
hour cable channel.
BellaNaija:
Bellanaija has been able to tag itself as the one-stop
online portal for stories revolving around Nigerian
fashion, wedding moments and heart-touching
stories. If you are a lady who's single, married or a
mother, you definitely have this website bookmarked.
Biola Alabi:
The Managing Director at M-NET Africa over the last
three years has harnessed the African TV viewing
culture, with not just the quantity but quality of
African programming. She also spearheaded the
creation of the newly launched AfricaMagic channels.
Cecil Hammond:
Hammond's Flytime has become the go-to promoter
for those hoping to have successful shows in Lagos,
Nigeria's entertainment HQ. From owning the famous
Rhythm Unplugged property, to exclusive deals with
Silverbird and Eko Hotels, and a media structure that
works, Hammond is emerging as a major force in
today's industry.
Chris Ubosi:
A complete behind-the-scenes man, Ubosi moved
from being a big player at Cool FM to set up
Megalectrics Limited, owners of radio stations –
Premium choice BEAT 99.9FM, retro-styled Classic FM
93.7 and pidgin-speaking Naija FM 102.7, which have
all become fan favourites in Lagos. Beat FM
especially, has redefined today's pop music, with
OAPs like Olisa Adibua, Gbemi and Toolz creating a
new set of stars that otherwise could have remained
unsung. Megaletrics is now taking the game to
Ibadan and other regions…
Clarence Peters:
No other director in Nigeria can match up to Clarence
Peters' combination of talent and work. From
shooting videos for top artistes in and outside Nigeria
to co-running a record label, he keeps setting
standards by taking his work up a notch every time.
Cobhams Asuquo:
classical yet contemporary, the revered visually
impaired producer is placed in the highest of ranks
when music production in Nigeria is mentioned. His
recent successful work with his label artiste Bez
proves beyond words his mastery of sound.
D'Banj:
'Entertainer', the best word to describe the 32-year-
old. Dapo Oyebanjo has broken barriers again and
again; name it – winning world recognized awards,
collaborating with international artistes, signing up
with one of the biggest labels in the US, and making
a bunch of white girls sing passionately to his songs.
Need we say more?
Davido:
At just 19, the energetic lad has broken into the
music industry, scoring hits upon hits, and giving
inspiration to a generation of young upcoming
artistes in the country. The self-proclaimed 'Omo
baba olowo' now joins fellow pop acts Wizkid and
Wande Coal, who are often used as yard sticks to
measure the success of young artistes here. As his
popularity and influence continue to grow, he would
need to be careful, as there are many potholes ahead.
DJ Jimmy JATT:
Africa's most iconic DJ, Jimmy is the bonafide leader
of old and new school jockeys on the continent. And
he's worn that hat since his early days at Obalende,
through Surulere, both in Lagos. Pathfinder,
innovator, teacher, influencer and performer, he's lit
the way for many, and scored many firsts – including
his remarkable mixtape, TV show, and snapback
range…
Don Jazzy:
Many of the biggest hit songs you heard on your
radio were made by Michael Collins. Don Jazzy has
been able to create a cult following amongst fans,
successfully selling off his persona. Despite breaking
up with former label partner D'banj, Don Jazzy still
stands tall amongst other producers.
Efe Omorogbe:
Efe Omorogbe is the co-founder of Now Muzik,
Nigeria's leading talent management company. A
firm supporter of underground talent, the English
graduate is also a major force in the battle for
collective rights administration, through his music
industry coalition initiative.
Edi Lawani:
The elder has been organizing shows and concerts
since before Benita Okojie popped up on TV. Over the
years, Lawani has shown exemplary and
commendable work as a technical and events expert,
working from behind the scenes to give the best
output – a fantastic show. He still stays in the fore of
things as the brain behind most shows.
Emem Isong:
This movie producer remains prominent for her
constructive role in Nollywood, producing award
winning movies for close to two decades. Isong, also a
film maker and scriptwriter, owns a film academy
where she trains people on acting, directing and
screenplay writing.
Femi Ayeni:
The Ultima Boss runs MTN Project Fame West Africa -
one of the biggest music talent hunt shows in this
market. Conservative, yet omnipresent, Ayeni is a
star-maker who himself, rarely gets noticed. His other
asset is the hugely successful 'Who Wants to be a
Millionaire' TV game show.
Femi Kuti:
The Afrobeat maestro fit into his father's shoes years
ago, and ever since, whether or not he can carry the
Kuti legacy hasn't been questioned. The three-time
Grammy Award nominee is often known to voice his
opinion against bad governance in support of the
masses, and with the help of his sister Yeni Kuti,
hosts the yearly Felabration in honour of his late
father Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Funke Akindele Almaruf:
Akindele invaded our home years ago when she was
a teenager and returned as 'Jenifa' years later. Her
movies did not only sell out in cinemas, but have
caught the eyes and hearts of the young and old.
Genevieve Nnaji:
The Nollywood actress has remained in the top
position when counting female movie personalities in
Nollywood. Described by CNN as the Julia Roberts of
Nollywood, Nnaji's profiling on the international
scene has been a big boost to her career, not
counting the many movies she's scored hits in.
Jason Njoku:
Credited for creating what the international media
has described as the 'Netflix of Africa,' Njoku has
combined technology and creativity to satisfy the
ever-growing needs of Nollywood fans across the
world, ranking in the Forbes 'African millionaires to
watch' list.
Jide Kosoko:
The seasoned actor has constantly featured in Yoruba
and English movies, but hasn't limited his role in the
Nigerian film industry there. Working behind the
scenes as a major influence within the Association of
Nigeria Theatre Act Practitioners (ANTP) and the
National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts
Practitioners (NANTAP), Kosoko has survived for a
long time, and is still as relevant as he was two
decades ago.
Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye:
Keke and D1 practically revolutionized the way music
was being presented on radio and TV back in the 90s;
setting a standard which was studied by every other
competitor who dared walked in their footsteps. And
when new media and the digital age came knocking,
the duo were there to embrace it and forge ahead.
Add that to the KENNIS Music label and gigantic
artiste roster, plus the yearly Kennis Music Easter
Fiesta, which has been running for nearly a decade-
and-a-half.
King Sunny Ade:
Only a few have the blessing of longevity that Sunday
Adeniyi Adegeye has. Few have his crossover appeal
and influence. An important voice in industry affairs,
from COSON to PMAN, KSA is constantly working the
back end, using his experience, contacts and
resources to help younger artistes, resolve conflicts,
bridge gaps and create opportunities.
Kunle Afolayan:
The New York Times describes him as the Martin
Scorsese of his time and Afolayan has proven his
worth, living up to expectations when he releases his
movies. From his debut production 'Irapada' to the
critically reviewed action-drama 'Figurine' and the
recent drama-comedy 'Phone Swap,' the accounting
graduate has shown finesse in all his work.
KWAM 1:
He's slowing down these days, but K1 the Ultimate
continues to have a firm grip on the affairs of Fuji
music. He assumed leadership of that segment long
before godfather Ayinde Barrister retired. And many
young and established Fuji acts – and their fans – will
tell you K1 is lord. Obesere won't agree with them
though.
Linda Ikeji:
From gossip blogging out of passion to making
millions, the last six years have been phenomenal for
the former model. Knowingly or not, Miss Ikeji's blog
has remodelled the face of entertainment, breaking
some of the biggest, and at times, most controversial
stories.
M.I:
At a time when the Hip-hop genre has not fully been
embraced in Nigeria, Jude Abaga has been able to
worm his way into the hearts of music lovers with his
skillful wordplay. Setting the pace, upcoming rappers
are inspired by his artistry and ability to yield, yet not
fully conform to the commercial appeal of listeners.
Matthew Ohio:
Wednesday nights are no longer ordinary nights in
Lagos – ever since Industry Nite, the weekly talent
show case-party, kicked off. Put together by events
promoter Matthew Ohio, Industry Nite has hosted the
biggest of stars and has proved instrumental in the
careers of many upcoming talents. The property is
now moving to Port Harcourt and other parts,
establishing itself as the biggest and most consistent
industry talent showcase…. Little wonder it has
received sponsorship from the likes of digital
company Spinlet.
The Murray-Bruces:
We can all agree that the Bruces have played many
major roles in taking entertainment to the next level.
Spearheaded by Ben Murray-Bruce, the family has
not only succeeded in radio and TV broadcasting, but
also made cinema culture fashionable again, with the
ubiquitous SIlverbird Cinemas. Their 'Most Beautiful
Girl in Nigeria' pageant also remains popular, despite
a sad drop in quality…
NotjustOk:
The site, run by two young men, Demola Ogundele
and Ovie Ofugara has been the one-stop place to
listen to the latest music and/or watch the latest
videos. Gathering a lot of readers from home and
away, some Nigerian artistes would rather their
songs make the website than any other place on the
web.
Obi Asika:
Bold and always in the know, record label owner Obi
Asika has had a hell of a run in the entertainment
industry. He's been running the Storm 360 label for
years, first signing some of the game's biggest
artistes, and pulling the strings behind reality shows
like 2005′s Big Brother Nigeria.
Ola Balogun (Olasco):
The movie sponsor and marketer understands the
audience. And for many years now, he has given his
backing to projects guaranteed to succeed. One good
example: Funke Akindele's 'Jenifa'.
Omotola Jalade:
Being a busy wife and mother of four has taken away
nothing, but added even more publicity to the diva
that remains at the top of the food chain as regards
Nollywood female actresses. Omosexy, as she is
fondly called, has keyed in her persona just like her
'rival' Genevieve Nnaji has done for herself.
P-Square:
The twin pop stars have broken barriers and set
standards right from their debut work, captivating us
with breath-taking videos and dance moves that
would do more than raise an eyebrow from Usher
Raymond. Five albums later, Peter and Paul Okoye
are still at it, collaborating with international artistes
and signing major distribution deals with top
international labels.
Peace Fiberesima:
She's the woman behind the African Movie Academy
Awards which has been running for 12 solid editions,
gathering movie stars from all over Africa. Fiberesima
has positioned the awards show as the most credible
and consistent honorary show often described as the
'African Oscars'.
Richard Mofe Damijo:
From his days as Segun Kadiri in the Amaka Igwe
classic Checkmate, to his Nollywood moments,
standing as one of the top actors in the scene, RMD
has always stood out. The 51-year-old is now a state
commissioner and continues to influence the younger
generation.
Rotimi Pedro:
Pedro, the Optima Media Group founder, is rapidly
becoming a major force to reckon with. With Nigerian
Idol and Nigeria's Got Talent grabbing big market
shares, the sports veteran and his team are
delivering entertainment to millions of Nigerians
while giving many an opportunity to kick off their
careers.
Ruth Osime:
Under the watch of Nduka Obaigbena, Ms Osime has
created the most successful fashion platform in
Nigeria – despite the fact that THISDAY Style is a free
pull out in THIS DAY The Sunday Newspaper.
Segun Arinze:
The talented actor-singer-TV host has been there and
done that. Whether releasing singles and videos to
hitting Nollywood as 'Black arrow' in the Nollywood
classic 'Silent Night' and even taking time off to host
the popular but short-lived AIT talk show 'No holds
barred,' Arinze has cultivated a habit of working
passionately. His concerns surpass what many
thought when he decided to run for the post of
President at the Actors' Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and
eventually won.
Sola Fajobi:
Sola Fajobi must have seen the light in Nollywood
many years before we all woke up. Through his Next
Movie Star reality show, he has contributed to the
training, development, and promotion of Nollywood
stars more than anyone in his industry.
Tajudeen Adepetu:
It's been almost two decades since Adepetu worked
his way into the hearts of Nigerians with the
household sitcom 'Family Circle,' then with 'Everyday
people.' His vision is exemplary; starting a music

GIST : Nigeria Will Succeed But I Cannot Do It Alone - Full Text of President Jonathan's Independence Speech

This is the unedited text of President Jonathan's
address to the nation this morning
Beloved countrymen and women, on this day,
fifty-two years ago, our founding fathers
brought joy and hope to the hearts of our
people when they won independence for our
great country. Nigeria made a clean break with
more than six decades of colonial rule, and
emerged as a truly independent nation. That
turning point was a new beginning for our
nation.
Those who witnessed the lowering of the Union
Jack and the emergence of the Green White
Green flag continue to relish the memory,
because that ceremony was not just about the
destiny of a nation, but the future of a people.
That future is here; we are the inheritors of a great
legacy that goes even much farther into the past.
The worthy patriots who made this possible were
young men and women in their twenties and
thirties. They worked together to restore dignity
and honour to the Nigerian people. Their resolve
united a multicultural and multilingual nation of
diverse peoples, with more than 250 distinct
languages and ethnic groups.
In 1960, our diversity became a source of strength,
and the new leaders resolved to carry the flag of
independence for the benefit of future generations.
They had their differences, but they placed a
greater premium on the need to come together to
build a new nation.
It is that resolve, and that glorious moment that we
celebrate today. We also celebrate the patriotism
of our heroes past: Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief
Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Michael Okpara, Chief
Anthony Enahoro, Herbert Macaulay, and several
others who made the case for our independence.
We remember as always, their contributions to the
making of the Nigerian nation, and the efforts of
their successors since 1960. We also celebrate the
unfailing optimism and resilience of Nigerians who
remain proud of our national identity.
On this special day, I call on every Nigerian to
remain steadfast, because our nation is indeed
making progress. I call on every Nigerian to
rediscover that special spirit that enables us to
triumph over every adversity as a people:
We weathered the storm of the civil war, we have
refused to be broken by sectarian crises; we have
remained a strong nation. I bring to you today, a
message of renewed hope and faith in the
immense possibilities that lie ahead.
Fellow citizens, I have an unshaken belief in the
future of our great Country. I consider it a priority
and sacred duty to continue to strengthen the
bond of unity that holds our nation together and to
promote and nourish the creative energies of our
people. This is a central objective of our
administration's Transformation Agenda. Nigeria, I
assure you, will continue to grow from strength to
strength.
Since I assumed office as President of our dear
country on the 6th of May 2010, I have continued
to work with our countrymen and women to
enhance our nation's growth and development.
Our vision is encapsulated in the Transformation
Agenda. We are working hard and making progress
on many fronts. We have cleaned up our electoral
process; our elections are now globally acclaimed
to be free and fair. Nigeria is now on a higher
pedestal regarding elections.
Over the past five years, the global economy has
been going through a weak and uncertain recovery.
During the same period and particularly in the last
two years, the Nigerian economy has done
appreciably well despite the global financial crisis.
Nigeria's real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has
grown by 7.1 per cent on average.
It is also significant that the GDP growth has been
driven largely by the non-oil sector. In pursuance of
the main goals of the Transformation Agenda, a
number of reforms and initiatives are being
pursued in key sectors of the economy with a view
to consolidating the gains of the economic growth.
Our country's power supply situation is improving
gradually. We are successfully implementing a
well-integrated power sector reform programme
which includes institutional arrangements to
facilitate and strengthen private-sector-led power
generation, transmission and distribution.
We have also put in place a cost-reflective tariff
structure that reduces the cost of power for a
majority of electricity consumers. I am pleased
with the feedback from across the country, of
improvements in power supply.
We are continuing to improve and stabilize on our
crude production volumes; our 12-month gas
supply emergency plan, put in place earlier this
year, has produced more than the targeted
volumes of gas for power generation. A robust
Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) has been placed
before the National Assembly. Its passage into law
will ensure far-reaching reforms, transparency,
accountability, increased government revenue and
predictability for investors in the Oil and Gas
sector.
Several government programmes and projects are
creating wealth and millions of job opportunities
for our youth and general population. Such
programmes include: You-Win, both for the youth
and for the women, Public Works, the Local Content
Initiative in the Oil and Gas Sector, and the
Agricultural Transformation programme.
We have improved on our investment
environment; more corporate bodies are investing
in the Nigerian economy. Our Investment Climate
Reform Programme has helped to attract over N6.8
trillion local and foreign direct investment
commitments.
Nigeria has become the preferred destination for
investment in Africa. It is ranked first in the top 5
host economies for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
in Africa, accounting for over 20 per cent of total
FDI flows into the continent. We have streamlined
bureaucratic activities at the ports to ensure
greater efficiency in the handling of ports and port-
related businesses. Specifically, we have drastically
reduced the goods clearing period in our ports from
about six weeks to about one week and under. We
have an ultimate target of 48 hours.
We have put in place, a new visa policy that makes
it easier for legitimate investors to receive long
stay visas. We have achieved a 24-hour timeline for
registration of new businesses, leading to the
registration of close to 7, 000 companies within the
second quarter of 2012.
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN)
has disclosed that, as at July 2012, 249 new
members across the country had joined the
Association, and that capacity utilization has also
improved. The multiplier effect of this development
on our job creation programme cannot be over-
emphasized.
In the last two years, we have put in place
structures for an upgrade of the country's health
sector, to promote in every respect, the individual
citizen's right to quality, affordable and accessible
healthcare.
In this regard, we are devoting resources under the
Subsidy Reinvestment Program (SURE-P) to
reducing malaria incidents, dramatically reducing
maternal and child mortality, and eradicating polio.
Fellow Nigerians, in recent times, we have
witnessed serious security challenges in parts of
our country. We have taken pro-active measures to
check the menace. This has included constant
consultation and collaboration with our neighbours
and other friendly nations on issues relating to
internal and cross border security, and the sharing
of information on smuggling and illegal dealing in
small arms and light weapons.
Our security agencies are constantly being
strengthened and repositioned for greater
efficiency. Many Nigerians have acknowledged that
there has been a significant decline in the spate of
security breaches.
While expressing our condolences to the affected
families, let me reiterate the commitment of this
Administration to ensure the safety of lives and
property of all Nigerians.
Even as we remain focused on the issue of security,
the fight against the scourge of corruption is a top
priority of our Administration. We are fighting
corruption in all facets of our economy, and we are
succeeding. We have put an end to several
decades of endemic corruption associated with
fertilizer and tractor procurement and distribution.
We have exposed decades of scam in the
management of pensions and fuel subsidy, and
ensured that the culprits are being brought to
book.
In its latest report, Transparency International (TI)
noted that Nigeria is the second most improved
country in the effort to curb corruption.
We will sustain the effort in this direction with an
even stronger determination to strengthen the
institutions that are statutorily entrusted with the
task of ending this scourge.
I have given my commitment of non-interference in
the work of the relevant agencies and I am keeping
my word. What we require is the full cooperation of
all tiers of government, and the public, especially
civil society and the media.
This Administration has also introduced for the first
time in Nigeria's history, a Performance Contract
System for all Ministers, and other officials of
government. This is to further place emphasis on
performance, efficiency, and service delivery.
Fellow Nigerians, our determined efforts on several
fronts not-withstanding, our country still faces a
number of challenges.
Those challenges should not deter us. In the last
few weeks, for example, many of our communities
have been ravaged by floods, resulting in the loss
of lives and property, and the displacement of
persons.
I want to reassure all affected Nigerians that I
share in their grief, and our Administration is
taking steps to address these incidents, in
collaboration with the States and Local
Governments.
I have received the interim Report of the
Presidential team that I set up to assess the
flooding situation across the country.
The Federal Government has taken measures to
assist the affected States, while considering long
term measures to check future reoccurrence.
We must continue to work together, confidently
and faithfully, to ensure that our country's
potentials are realised to the fullest; that our
dreams are translated into reality; and that our
goals are achieved.
Let me reiterate that our administration is
committed to the pursuit of fundamental
objectives of an open society: the pursuit of
freedom, security and prosperity for the Nigerian
people, and the rule of law.
In the next few days, I shall lay before the National
Assembly the 2013 Federal Budget Proposal so
that deliberations can commence in earnest on the
key policies, programmes and projects that will
mark a decisive year for our development and
transformation.
I have no doubt that by the time I address you on
our next independence anniversary, many of our
reform efforts would have yielded even better
results.
Over the years, several leaders have built on the
foundation laid by our Founding Fathers. The baton
is now in our hands. Let me assure all Nigerians
that we shall not fail.
I am confident that Nigeria will continue to be a
source of pride to its citizens; to Africa and the
Black Race and to humanity; a land that is known
for progress, freedom, peace and the promotion of
human dignity.
May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. May
God bless you all.

GIST : Yvonne Nelson - ''Majority Of My People In Ghana Are *Ass Kissing*Artistes''

Ghana's beautiful and delectable actress, Yvonne Nelson has charged her colleagues in Ghana to be more vocal.

She recently rent out her anger virtually on all the actors and actresses in Ghollywood as boot-lickers who don't know what they want. Yvonne expressed her disappointment in the way things are done in Ghana movie industry.

Here's what she said, "like I said on Peace FM recently, everybody talks about discipline but then some producers always try to take advantage of artistes.

Most of my people in Ghana are kiss-ass artistes. They can't voice out because they know producers might not call them for jobs again. They just sit down and take anything that comes their way.

They just have to treat us right and they would not have problems with anybody. I have shot two movies and I am not even a major producer.

I am an actress trying to do this but I do know that if we treat people right, everybody goes away with a happy face. Don't take advantage of the people you work with."

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY NIGERIANS - JUST A BRIEF HISTORY

Nigeria was a creation of the British colonial adventurer and empire builder. The March for markets, raw materials and the need to exert political influence overseas led Britain to journey to places as distant as Wikki in present day Borno State. To the Northwest, Sokoto came under her influence too. Deriving the name Nigeria from the word 'Niger' - the name of the river that constitutes the most remarkable geographical feature, the colonial master coupled together the diverse peoples North and South of the river and its tributary — the Benue — into a modem nation-state.

The vegetation in tile South is predominantly rain forest, but moving northwards one finds a belt of savannah and scrubland which gives way to the Sahara Desert. From across the desert came the earliest external influence to reach some of the areas now part of Nigeria.

That was Islamic faith and ideas which began to filter from North Africa, first into Kanern- Bornu. Although, at the time, it was the religion of a few elite until the nineteenth century. The Niger River, the name from which Nigeria is coined, empties into the Bights of Benin and Bonny, through an intricate network of Delta characterized by a thick mangrove which the British ventured in order to get prized items of trade in the nineteenth century. But this was after the trade in slaves had been outlawed in 1833.

SLAVE TRADE:
Bourdillon
Sir Bernard Bourdillon

The external influence resulting from this trade brought tremendous impact on Nigeria. From the late 15th Century, Europeans began frequenting the Bights of Benin (now the Bights of Bonny), in search of tropical products and slaves. By the eighteenth century, the ports of Nigerian coastlines, mainly Lagos, Brass, Bonny and Old Calahar, had become centres of the trans-atlantic slave trade.

Trade routes from these ports extended through the communities of the South to the Hausa States. But the industrial revolution and the advent of the machine made the trade unnecessary and unprofitable. The aftermath was an increased interest in palm oil trade.
Macpherson
Sir John Macpherson

In 1849, the British Government appointed John Beecroft as the Governor of Bights of Benin and Bonny His job was to regulate commercial relations with the coastal city States. Backed by fierce gunboats, he interfered with the internal affairs of these States and the process which culminated in the imposition of colonial rule came afoot. There were also missionary interests at play. In 1861, Lagos was proclaimed crown colony.

And through the initiative of the United Africa Company, formed by George Goldie, through an amalgamation of British firms in 1879, most of the parts which became Northern Nigeria were preserved as British sphere to the chagrin of French and German competitors.
Robertson
Sir James Robertson

The Company received a charter to administer it until 1899 when the charter was revoked, and tile British Government administered it directly, under the name "Protectorate of Northern Nigeria" The Delta Area had itself been proclaimed the Oil Rivers Protectorate, following the signing of a number of treaties between the local rulers and British consular officials.

Finally, in 1914, the two British administrations were merged, to form a single territorial unit known as Nigeria. This territory was administered by the British until 1960 when the Union Jack (British flag) was lowered for the Nigeria flag to take its place.

GIST : Newton Jibunoh -How I travelled from London to Nigeria by road

Dr. Newton Jibunoh is a man of many parts. An arts enthusiast and environmental activist, the 74-year-
old founder of Didi Museum and Fight Against Desert Encroachment, a Non Governmental Organisation, wears his passion like a badge.

Surrounded by art in different forms at Didi Museum, venue for the hour-long chat, the former chairman of Costain West Africa, speaks animatedly about his interests that have since
become his identity.

On the museum, he says, it is an educational institution which he traces its genesis to a small room in Apapa.

"As a child, missionaries referred to these artifacts as taboos and tried to get my people to get rid of them," he recalls. "What shocked me was that the
missionaries were taking away some of those things.

When I got to London in the early 60s and visited the British museum, I found most of these works there.

So, I decided to start a campaign to
keep our history. When I returned to Nigeria in 1966, I started collecting works.

Moreover, because I was also finding myself in the midst of artists like
Segun Olusola, Akin Yuba, Wole Soyinka, Dr Ekpeyong, I learnt a lot from them.
"Dr Ekpeyong, who was the director-general of the National Museum, would come to my house and see the works.

He always commended them and
urged me to show it to the public. That was how I started from a parlour exhibition to a room exhibition and to what it is now."

Famous for his trips across the desert, Jibunoh rhapsodises on his first trip which he made when he was in his 20s. "When you are in your 20s, that
is what I will regard as your formative era, when you decide who you are and where you are headed.

One of such examples was the arrest and trial of Nelson Mandela. He said on the day he was sentenced, 'this is my cause, this is what I believe
in, and I will continue to do so even if I die in the process.'

The other statement was that of John .F.
Kennedy, who was challenged for trying to explore the space and the moon because of the huge amount of money America, was investing in it.

He told his opponents that it was only by doing hard things that good things come out. That also stayed
with me and that inspiration started in earnest.

I decided that I was going to be part of my era and the only way to do that was to try the impossible. It took me six months to get to Nigeria from London."

You wonder why he still takes the risk of going on expeditions at his age. In a fit of amusement, he enumerates the reasons for his sustained interest.
"It is like going to the moon and what they have achieved by going to the moon.

To go on an expedition like this, you have to put your life on the line and be ready to die. You do not do things like this for nothing; you have to have a course because many times people have asked what this whole
thing is about.

It is about the air we breathe, it is
about the water we drink, the food we eat and it is about the land we came out from and will go back to when we die. How much are we doing to protect
and preserve the land that is so important for life?"

Recounting his several near-death experiences, he tells without mincing words that he is undeterred.

"If you are stuck in the sand and you cannot get your car out of the sand and you do everything (maybe for four or five hours) and you are 600
miles from help, what do you do? You just stay there and die.

Alternatively, when you are attacked
by bandits, they wonder why you are there, and they want to kill you, what do you do? You either surrender or try to talk them out of it.

"I have gone through so many near-death situations but somehow, I think it is the fact that once you are ready to die for anything, death stays away from you. It is when you are scared of dying
and you are faced with death that you panic."

In spite of all these, he still finds time to relax. "I do relax but maybe when I go to that six feet beneath, I will relax. I do many things and I cycle around a
lot.

When I am in London, I use my bicycle to go everywhere because there are bicycle tracks.

In my village in Delta, I ride my bicycle. The same applied in Amsterdam, wherever I go to visit my daughter
and grandchildren. In Lagos, I don't ride often and when I have to, I take my bicycle to some island or one of these estates where it's a lot safer."

But his childhood was not as pleasant. Hear him: "I did not know I was an orphan until I was seven years old.

What my sister and I were told was that
our parents travelled. Family and friends offered to put us up here and because of that, I went to so many schools."

His educational sojourn brought him to Lagos. "After secondary school, I came to Lagos, where I did a number of courses at the emergency science
school now known as YABATECH. First, I got a job with the Federal Ministry of Works and I found out that I could sit for scholarship examinations.

I failed the first time and passed the second time. That was how I travelled out of Nigeria to study building engineering in 1961 and I graduated in 1965.

I then came back to Nigeria in 1967 and went back to the Ministry of Works where I worked for a little over a year.

I found that I was not sufficiently
challenged and I left there for a private sector organisation, which was like a subsidiary of Costain.

From there, I moved on to Costain and
whilst there, for 36 years, I worked there — I was CEO for 16 years."
Married to Elizabeth, he remembers their meeting many years back.

"It was a Christmas day. I did not
have what you would call a family, so, I liked moving around during Christmas.

That Christmas morning, I saw two young women and it turned out
that the other lady had spent the night at my wife's place. So, she escorted her to her parents' place to explain why she spent the night.

"On my way back, I saw my wife alone and I greeted. She ignored me but I repeated my greeting and I followed her. She continued to ignore me and I followed her to the house where
she just walked in. At night, I went back to that same house and met her mother, who was pleased with my honesty.

Today, we have five children and
nine grandchildren." Ask him what he would like to be remembered for
and he stares back at you in amazement and says,

"Anytime I am asked that question, I am at a loss.

When I am gone, I am gone. I think it is my legacy that will determine. I do not think I want to predict.

First, I do not know when I am going and I do not know how I am going to go. When I hear people talk about what they would like to be remembered for, I
am not impressed."

GIST : How Davido Made Wizkid Pay 500,000 For Club Drinks.

Davido  might deny the brewing cold war going on between him and Wizkid and even tell everyone who cares to listen that the Pakurumo singer is his 'brother' but insider sources say that is far from the truth.
Before Davido bursted into limelight, he and Wizkid were unknown to each other but that soon changed once Davido also became a household name and they both got to meet and struck a chord of friendship until sometime in May when the cordial relationship went sour.

According to an insider who knows the duo well and the source of their no-love lost relationship, Wizkid was chilling at a hotel somewhere on the Island and apparently wasn't having a great time so he decided to put a call through to his friend, Davido who at the time was hanging out with five other friends of his. The Omo Baba Olowo then instructed his aide to go and pick Wizkid at a hotel behind 1004 building on VI.

In no time, Wizkid had joined Davido and his group of friends at a club in the civic centre where they had some drinks before carrying the party to Movida on Idowu Taylor, VI. While there, Davido ordered some bottles of Hennessey for himself and two other friends who had just joined them and as they drank, Wizkid became tipsy and frail as he had one drink too many on the night.

Immediately, he was carried to Davido's car parked outside where he allegedly threw up. All this while, Davido was nowhere to be found as he abandoned his colleague and friend.

After a while, the bar tenders produced the bill which was about N500,000 and since Davido had disappeared into thin air and bulking under pressure to pay the bills, Davido's aide took the bar tenders to Wizkid's home where he was forced to issue a cheque to cover their unpaid expenses.

This singular act put a strain on their relationship as Wizkid felt let down by Davido. Already, their relationship had been tested following the bitter break-up of Mo'Hits as both artistes had their allegiances divided between Don Jazzy on one hand, and Dbanj on the other.

But what would finally prove to be the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was when Davido was sending out invitation to guests for the launch of his O.B.O Album and he didn't send any to Wizkid. And to add salt upon injury, Davido and his crew  reportedly sauntered out on a Wizkid performance to the consternation of many at the NEA couple of weeks back in New York.

With these series of events coupled with Davido's denial and Wizkid's obvious silence in the face of all the 'beef' rumor, isn't obvious that all is not well between these two super stars? On Wizkid's part, could this be the moment when 'silence is golden?' Time will tell.

PHOTOS : Justin Bieber Throws Up On Stage At Arizona Concert.

Teen pop star Justin Bieber kicked off his "Believe" tour in Arizona by throwing up onstage.

After Saturday night's show in Glendale, the 18-year-old heartthrob blamed it on drinking too much — too much milk, that is.

The show was the first on his new "Believe" tour and even though he was forced to leave the stage twice due to illness, the show went on.

Justin Bieber says he had a little too much milk before recent performance, leading to upset stomach.
When he returned, he asked his adoring crowd, "Will you love me even though I'm throwing up on stage?"

Bieber apologized to the crowd for being sick, but the crowd didn't seem to mind too much and cheered him on throughout.

Despite the onstage incident, Bieber later tweeted that Glendale was a "great show" and said he was getting better before Sunday's show in Las Vegas.

"And …. Milk was a bad choice!" he added.
